Each run more than $1K... Elite runner..

I run HK almost every year. Only downgrade to HM since this year.

$800 should be enough.

... but how about the recovery part.??... sore heels and knees and  near hips joints/ muscles??........walking or taking MTR or taxi .....icing/ heating compression facility....& catching flight back....  family member accompany - maybe not so bad.  Alone I got no guts to do it in a foreign land, maybe becos I never tried it. My friend did the HK StanChart FM about 7 years back and he said it was very impressive and weather was very cool too unlike Singapore so humid and hot even in Dec      .... and to add he said he did it 45 mins faster

the heat and humidity in Singapore is just performance sapping.

Seldom ran overseas but once had opportunity to run in San Diego during Nov-Dec... wow, the cool weather can easily improve your performance 2X

For HK, my strategy is simple.  Look for a hotel next to Victoria Park.  The cheapest hotel around there is Butterfly on Victoria.  No more than 10 mins walk/crawl back.  Morning needs to take more time to travel to Nathan Road start line.  This year, i use AirBnB where i make fren with the landlord (young chic from Taiwan).

The weather is cold.  I usually wear T-shirt on top of Singlet.  Most of the time, it is ok.  The only part that is really cold is the bridge towards Airport.  The bridge is on open sea.

This year, i ran more than 50% of the time in rain.  It is freezing cold.  The most important thing is to have a wind-proof jacket at the end of the run.  Otherwise, sure die 1.

I have muscle ache after the run. The next day, i could do slow recovery run already.

For past 2 years, i stayed alone because my friend was staying with his hong kong fren.  This year, he stayed with me.  As long as you know youself, it is manageabe to travel overseas alone to run.

I usually achieved my PB in HK.  In 2014, i completed FM in 5:12. My best time in SG is 5:30.

For SCMS 2015 HM, I completed in 3:11.  For HK half marathon, i completed in 2:36.  1st half, i was conservative (because i did not put in much training in btw these 2 events).  I did 1:24 for 1st half & 1:12 for 2nd half.

Wow! My friend told me similarly also in HK he could do it in 4 hours compared to SGP 5 hours the FM here (StanChart)

But I remember he did it in month of Oct - it was windy though but pleasant and like Air Con feeling like maybe 24 degrees or lower but wind chill helped as I remembered he said it was really strong on some long bridge;

Tks for the heads up on the event. One day maybe one day I'll do it...... [sleeping]

Normally I come back home- I bathe with ice cubes in water pail ... [bigcry] ..and hot water intervals from heater... like turkish bath thats what they say is good and really I feel very refreshed and aches are like somewhat gone.

good keep it up mate   [thumbsup]

I did 3 overseas runs in all. Taichung, Taipei and Cyberjaya.

All great experiences. I got a PB in Taipei cos it was so cold. I was wanted to finish it quickly and get onto the bus.

That's sprinting all the way. They have to use motorcyle to open and guide the 1st runner. For Singaporean fastest runner they use bicycle. [laugh]

Any bros signed up with this years StanChart marathon??

Any idea what was the Promo Code thing all about as the Organisers seems to keep mum about it, Seems like they don't give any more loyalty promo codes no more

Finally I just used StanChart CC card for 15% discount

Yes I know, last 2-3 years they don't send no more mailer too;  Price seems to keep going up too from last time; Getting very commercialised and unpersonal, I guess they are enjoying the fruits of 6.9 million maybe in advance already and also first day of registration got so much people complain on FB cannot get thru' the registration even

Down there StanChat kenna rob $30K & down here peepur kenna charge higher always ; both also during daylight time [bigcry]

Ya, I stopped joining Stand chart for 4 or more years now, becoz of the rising price. And also one of the most jammed and frustrating event as it attracts alot of walkers. Once I arrived late, and kenna the 2nd wave for the 21km, bottleneck when the 2nd wave crashed with the slower 1st wave.

I cut down and run mainly the community events by the community centre. Cheaper, less jammed, Volunteers are usually friendly uncle and auntie. The only thing is the event Tee is not as glam as stand chart, so less people join..
