Buried beside his son

Friends and employees of his spa say he was generous and well-liked

FRIENDS and employees knew Mr Shariffudin Abdul Kader as a generous man, one who thought nothing of springing for a cruise for the staff of his spa as a reward for their work.

Up until two years ago, the ardent soccer fan would let the footballers in the S-League's Home United team have free run of the gym and pool in his spa too.

But a few months ago, the 56-year-old ran into financial difficulties. He fell behind on the rent for the spa in Grandlink Square in Guillemard Road, which had to be closed.

He was also being harangued by debt collectors.

Early on Sunday morning, he fell to his death from the 12th floor of an HDB block in Marsiling Drive. It is believed that he took his own life.

Police at the Marsiling scene found an electronic key card to a hotel room, and a note which simply said that his son could be found at the Copthorne Orchid Hotel in Dunearn Road.

Grandlink Health Spa offers quite value for money... the normal free food and good massage according to my colleague... unlike G.Spa at guillemard village which i feel is more atas... price also quite on the upside

Thanks and sad ending... I m going to miss the spa, it was very clean, well done and a good place to relax and de-stress...

As for G Spa, it is quite expensive and does not offer the same experience as HS

Anyone know of similar spa to hang out?

I was wondering how come a business like a SPA can close down afterall seems that quite popular?

indeed, very surprise too. I hope some of his employees can continue the business.

I do not go to spa regularly, probably once or twice a year, but this is the regular spa I have been visiting.
