Overseas Posting for 2 years or more

There is a possibility that I will be posted away for 2 years. I have a 5 year old car, which I do not want to sell, as I love this car.

If you are in my position, what would you do?

I have thought about a few options:

1) Let a friend use it while I am away for 1K a month.

2) Convert to Off-Peak.

Any other options? Inputs appreciated. Thaks.

Let yr fren use if he treats it better than his wife,

bubble bath, rub wax all over her body, new rubber,

use good oil on all the right places.

If he isn't gonna take good care then dun let him

lay a finger on her. :D

No point yr babe get used and abused for 1k

and you come back n see her heart pain.

5 year old car? I think u shld take this opportunity to sell off the car, and buy another one when u come back.

But if u really like the car and intends to keep the car for 10 yr, then i wld suggest u let a trusted friend use it while u r away. Or family member or relative.

3rd option...sell it off and to buy the same model when you are back.

I agree. Or..if pass it to family members to be used it as 'market' car.

u like it for sentimental reasons (i.e matrimonial car or gift from grand parents or something lidat) or like it becoz it has served u well?

if it's the latter, ur expectations might change (i.e higher) when u come back 2 years later and find that ur then 7-year old car may be feeling abit lao pok, esp after being used by ur 'fren' for 2 years.

treat the posting as a fresh start to ur career and car owning experience. [;)]

Better to sell away. Less one thing to worry about when you are overseas. Your overseas stint may extend beyond the 2 years.

Chances are, you can get a newer, better car when youre back.

Sell it...why?

1) u will not be w ur car...u will miss her...she will be abused (more or less)...

2) she might has a change of heart n or u might have a change of heart n not love her when u return (like she was banged...)

3) when u come back...u might like a younger and newer version of her (new model)...

4) as she grows older..she get less valuable...

Yes, up to three consecutive three years. But take note of this condition: "A vehicle will lose its eligibility for Preferential Additional Registration Fee (PARF) benefit, if any, once the vehicle is placed under lay up status".

Then again, during the lay up period, road tax and insurance is exempted and COE will be rebated as well!
