Hi all,

Have you ever seen car owner washing their cars just a few lots away from the destinated washing bay? They just wash their car right on the carpark lot and left behind murky water and drive off.

Some are smart too, get the maid to wash the car. I've seen someone approached the maid and asked her to wash the car at designated washing bay. The maid replied: " This is not my car and I've no driving license." [laugh]. Funny right?

Are you one of those drivers?

Regards,

You sure they washing the car there or wiping dry?

If washing the car there then it is very wrong.

I always wash my car at the car washing bay and after washing shift up to the upper deck to wipe dry the car and do some touching up.

Reason being to let others have the washing bay to wash the car...

Some will tell you if the Blanga can wash car at carpark lot and collect a fee, surely we can wash our cars right at the parking lot [laugh].

Neutral Newbie

Don't think it's explicitly an offence... but when washing with detergents/chemicals.. the discharge should go into an IC, i.e. sewer... which is why the water in the wash bay doesn't flow into an open drain.... all other places in the carpark, water would enter the open drain...

the architect/engineer would have to design the drainage and sewer system that way... but of course, the user may not use it that way..

it's an offence. There are signages to tell people that washing of cars is only allowed at car wash bays.

then again, wat can u do abt it even if they choose to wash at other lots [laugh][laugh]

Although there are signages to tell people to wash cars at wash bays, OPC drivers cannot even drive theirs within the mscp from car park lot to washing bay during OPC restricted hours as defined by LTA. Since they cannot drive to the washing bay, they have to wash the car at the car park lot.

Who is there to check?? It's absolutely rubbish if OPC cars cannot even be driven to the washing bay.

I have written to LTA before to ask if OPC cars can be driven within MSCP to washing bay. Their reply is that OPC cars cannot drive during restricted hours. As to who is there to check, anyone with a camera handphone can just take a picture of the OPC car at the washing bay during the restricted hours and sent to LTA for follow-up.

If LTA's regulation is so rigid, then I think there is something seriously wrong with legislation in Singapore. Even if someone posts the pictures on Stomp, LTA should not penalize the driver just because he was free to wash his car during restricted hours.

When rain fall down the top and wash yr car, can LTA also fine them? If not, what is the different between rain pouring the rain water down vs we pour the water by our own? Rain water very clean and can drink si bo? So if we pour clean water to our car can anot?

taking photo or video of maid/car owner washing car is of no use (I had already tried before).

HDB/Town Council will tell you that if you want to bring up this case, you have to be a witness or may have to attend court.

The only way is to shame these car owners at STOMP or youtube.
