Except for the Ash Wood trim, the new A6 @ $185K also have 4 zone aircon, bigger (8" vs 6") MMI screen with Navi (but no Android / Apple Connect function). Iirc, the management unit might have additonal touch pad on the centre console (next to the gear knob). The biggest difference being the full Matrix LED headlight system, which is no longer available on the current A6 in Singapore.

And obviously, with all these add on, the OMV of management unit is ~$4K ($44K vs. $40K) more than the current new car.

The price for the a6 is very attractive. I pity those who bought immediately after facelift

Comparing 1.8 A6 at 180k and C class at 170k, A6 is a much better deal.

How's Audi's reliability, especially the S-Tronic transmission?

Stronic regularly serviced and change GB oil is as reliable as normal auto transmission

This one isn't the infamous VW dry clutch 7 speeder transmission so reliability wise is much much better. Just like the other gearboxes you'd find in the Merc or BMW.

Anyway.. Audi A6 belongs to different segment if compared to C-class. But yes, you top up a bit, get to drive a bigger and better loaded car.

No brainer choice if you ask me, unless the buyer prefer to drive a smaller car.

This S-Tronics is developed just for use by Audi, different from the other 7 speed DSG in VAG group.

S tronic is closely related to pdk

The 1.8L avant is also gd! Hahaha. But not sure about the price. SG carmart just test drove it

Read online that the 2nd face-lift audi A6 supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

It is using the updated MMI system found in the new Q7 and A4 so can use Apple Carplay & Android Auto.

Not quite sure if Apple carplay and Android connect will be a standard feature or a cost option for the 2nd facelift. For now, it is cost option ($200).

Honestly.. with their usual cutthroat pricing policy, $200 is quite ok already lah.

Well it could be free / standard item for the car to begin with... Many years ago when PI are enjoying a blossom in their business, there were buyers that claimed they are con to pay for something that is already a standard feature in their model / grade / trim... ... Since you have dealed with PA before, you should also be aware of the slight diff in trim for every batch of their car right?

Sometimes it's because of fluctuations in currency exchange rate, import costs, COE levels, management direction, pricing strategy and user's efforts in bargaining lah.

Not trying to defend PA but I think they are not alone in this practice. Specs direct from factory usually becomes standard, seldom taken out & sold at same price, only can increase such specs when car model is near EOL. But specs that are installed 3rd party locally, they will adjust these.. According to above listed factors.

Is this model a good car ? Saw it in the recent roadshow at Suntec. Engine is 1.8 but has quite a good horse power.

Am thinking of getting it over BMW 5 series or Mercedes E Class. Attractively priced below 200k.

Any advice/comments would be appreciated. Thank you !

Pros:

Decent fuel consumption. Mix of Express way driving plus start stop traffic about 60%/40% Ratio. Averages about 750KM/ Tank.

Power is decent if you step on it.

Comfortable cruiser.

Now with Sat-Nav as standard.

Sound proofing is quite decent.

Sleek Looks. But the new G30 BMW has killer looks.

Price factor vs BMW and Merc.

Very big boot space, flat and square. Loaded in two X 32" Luggage with space to spare.

Cons:

The seats, the stupid seats are just not supportive enough.

Handles like a boat, as compared to BMW and Merc. The steering wheel is just too sensitive during dynamic mode, it just doesn't feel right. In normal mode, the steering is just too light.

Don't bother to be the first off the line at traffic light, you will just get loads of wheel spin.

Parking is a big headache as parking lots are a tad small for a car of this size.

Hope the above helps.
