vios needs 4L of coolant for change, i doubt 1.8L can only use 1L, more of like 4L

Vios needs 8 litres total? Assuming 50/50 ratio 4L coolant,4L water, thats a lot

Coolant just 1yr change once will do. Do not need to determine on the mileage.

Issn't it too much? Every year change.

My car coming 4 years never change

ya agreed.. dont need to change yearly... especially if u r using long-life coolant...

another indication to change would probably when the coolant become brownish or dirty... then u quickly change...

i only do twice in all my years of car ownership... one was request WS to do flushing for me... another type is when changing the radiator..

for the flushing... actually quite easy... but problem here is that coolent are not environmentally friendly.. so not nice to just throw them down the drain...

for that reason, i dont want to do DIY...

Oh yar, I forgotten engines today are aluminum and not cast iron. Cause mine is old iron block and rust tends to form. Thus need to change often. Engines today are alu thus don't will not corrode easily.

IMHO, just use water wetter will do. 1 bottle + distilled water. Much cheaper than using coolant. I use 3 bottles for extra rust protection.

"Traditional coolants, even in very small doses, can be poisonous to dogs, cats and children. Unfortunately, it is very attractive to animals who will readily drink it. Consider using a propylene glycol-based coolant . While no antifreeze product is completely harmless, using propylene glycol antifreeze does provide an added margin of safety in the event of accidental ingestion. To protect children, pets and wildlife motorists exercise caution when changing any type of antifreeze - tighten child-safe caps, store out of reach of children, clean up spills immediately and never leave a pan of drained coolant lying around. "

Can replenish every 40,000km/2-years

Replace hose as and when leak observed, or after 100,000km

More accurate to measure the amount drained out if unable to access technical specification. Some coolant need to be diluted with water according to instruction

Thanks guys for the headup, i think i will just go workshop and flush, due to environmental reason.

Is it necessary to use distilled water ? Got ask mechanic before,he say tap water will do

My Optra uses Long-life coolant. Dont mix long-life with normal coolant.

I changed at 70K km(4 yrs plus) when I changed my timing belt n water pump. Total was abt 3lit long-life coolant n 3 lit distilled water.

If u use normal coolant, maybe can change abt 2 yrs/40K km. Also check yr water hoses at the same time n change if ty r worn/hardened.

Its good to do it when u change yr timing belt/waterpump cos then its easier to drain all the old coolant out when u remove the waterpump.

depends on what car i think.

Nowadays a lot use longlife coolant.

Those MB, bmw, honda (blue coolant) can last at least 100,000km... some up to 200,000km.. can last throughout the typical lifetime in SG.

vios uses pre-mixed toyota coolant. the 4L is pre-mixed already. Only need 7-8L if flushing. 4L is enough for drain and fill.

To all

Martini racing super cool is a coolant concentrate. 1 bottle treats up to 7 liter of water..it is non glycol base which is safe for track in case of radiator leak..it's effectiveness of cooling has been tested and proven on road and track...it can last up to 250000km...from the dyno testing and actual road usage....it is capable of reducing temp up to 4 degrees which is in turns improve engine performance..
