Hi,

 

Does anyone know if Singnet, M1 or Starhub restrict Bit Torrent download speed now?

The last time I used Starhub and the download speed was really bad.

Tried Singnet, quite good.

i'm using STarhub now leh... so far so good. Sometimes can go up to 1200kb/s

Did you try the following 3 basic precautions?

 

1) Choose an uncommon high-numbered port as the "listening port" (and forward the same on your router), or randomise your port with every startup.

 

2) Enable (or force) encryption to mask your torrent packets as "normal" web traffic.

 

3) Run a good peerblocker with updated anti-P2P (and other) lists.

 

Those 3 countermeasures (carried out in addition to optimising your connection) should defeat most traffic-shaping measures (thereby improving your speeds) and provide some peace of mind (you're less likely to get a C & D letter).
