Hi Mark, your Axio what is the mileage? I had some noise issues last time on my Axio- mileage about 140K there about, my workshop drain out the oil engine oil - btw was the Toyota Lexus full syn oil.

Fill up with ELF Semi Syn oil - then noise disappeared, the mech told me this mileage use semi syn oil is better.

Just sharing my experience - you can ask your car mech on this...

unsure what tht noise was, but may be loose metal cover / heat shield, timing chain tensioner, valve clatter (similar to diesel engine clatter). don't conclude as gearbox issue first.

try cheaper method like bolting covers / shields in engine bay b4 start-up first, then listen to engine valve cover area when idling. hope u r able to resolve e issue w/o much cost.

Went for supper with neighbour who just got his new vezel.

Noticed he liked to change gears from Drive to Neutral when approaching red traffic.

The last time I did this was when driving a manual transmission.

When doing that RPM shot up instantly while he let the car rolled.

Did not comment since he is a self professed motor-head.

Is he killing his CVT gearbox doing this? Or highly recommended?

Hi,

I am driving a Toyota axio, after my last cvt oil change, the mech gave back to me the oil can with about 1 litre left inside. Since a full tin is 4 litre, is the amount used correct. Recently I noticed that I need to use more engine power to move the car ,especially when reverse gear.

Can the lack of enough cvt oil cause this problem ?

What is the correct amount of oil required?

If the gear box is having a problem, anyone can recommend a workshop to rectify,?

Anyone had this type of problem before?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you still have your car manual to refer to? It usually should be less than 4L.

Talk about Gb, I guess I kill my 4at Gb during cny trip up north.. After my return, the Gb has delayed engagement.. During morning cold start, when engage to D from P, and release foot brake, car won't move at all for like 1-2seconds.. Googled for the symptom and bingo, common problem for a problematic auto gb.. Anyway, hope it can hold till end of this year...[:p]

Maybe try lucas oil or the xando additive that is thicker that helps reduce the pressure lost due to worn seals.

Neutral Newbie

Just did an overhaul at sin ming one of the gearbox specialised workshop. Put my car there on tuesday afternoon, just gotten my car back today. Less than 3 days overhaul. Hope it is a good overhaul as i see my car camera only off half a day due to removal of car battery.

Think they replaced with another unit (recon...or whatsoever). The time needed to bring down & put back the gb is about half a day's work

which after camera came on back about 3 pm on wednesday 17th feb . then there after all the way camera was active till thursday 18th feb where shown they send to alignment and come back. i collect the car on 19th thursday about 4 pm. 2 days only.

now the car is smooth and no delay in engagement from P to D. but how to check whether been replace by reconned gearbox or they really rebuilt my transmission. altogether i paid 2200 exclued 7 percent gst.
