but the rpm stay at 6k rpm, normal? i tot even if i dun feel it it will change gear?

CVT = Continuously Variable Transmission.

Also known as stepless transmission. It will change gear but you will not feel it even if you have superman's super sensitive butt.

Audiorook, try calling ellipseauto transmission @ 64560090, they will settle your issue at a fraction of the price. Look for uncle Meng.

Anyone has any experience with Ellipse?

I was quoted with around 2.6K+ to overhaul my 2003 Odyssey gearbox, and will take around 4 days. I am having difficult to engage the auto gear every morning and need 5-10 mins for the car to warm up and then it will jerk to engage the gear...thereafter, it will have no problem for the whole day until i park till the following morning.

Need some feedbacks if

1. The workshop is a trustworthy one, and how about its skill and service quality & customer service attitude

2. the quoted 2.6K+ is reasonable for the overhaul?

Thanks & regards.

few bros here did at jb.

mine is a RB1 ody and i believe yours is a RA6 ody. RA6 autotrans is much cheaper than mine. If not wrong, should be less than 3k ring, everything in.

Thx for the reply.

You mean the price to service in JB is RM 3K nia? But dont think i will be doing that in JB... so any idea how much is the average price for the SG workshop and not to be 'ketok'?

And after searching... seems like Khang Auto Transmission to be the preferred workshop?? Please help to feedback... just checked and realized Ellipse and Khang are located at the same place... few unit away! haha

thx

fyi, unless they let you see them strip your autotrans before your eyes to do an overhaul....

chances are they may get a fully recon unit from jb or kl with a 1-1 exchange. You be surprise by the advancement of workshop there that is way above here.

thats is why i refuse to pay what seems to be the same thing but at a much different price.

sorry.. am not really into car things even though been driving car for years...

What is the different between overhaul vs 'fully recon' gearbox? [sweatdrop]

Well, since they mention 4 days, which 1-2 days to disassembly the engine parts, 1 day to service/repair the gearbox, then put back together.. I think there is no chance for me to see what they are doing... that's why i need feedbacks for reputable workshop... else no choice but to pray liao...

Going to JB will be very difficult for me (need to work, talk about that who doesn't :-) ) especially nowadays with the stupid jams.. out of curiosity, how you guys send your cars (self driven or tow) and how do you come back (with friend' car?)... thinking of the troubles of going thru the customs, seeks helps from friends/relative to come along.., and what happen if after service still have problem n need to send back for checks... ..guess not worth the troubles/inconvenience... and definite will affect works...

technically its the same.

In the 1-1 exchange, the take back your worn out autotrans and overhaul it and put it on the shelf.

If another same model comes along, the will sell away the fully recon unit and takes back the worn unit again.

Its makes business sense as its much faster and less time consuming. Turn around for workshop is also quicker as they also do not want the car to be stationed in the workshop for too long.

These are the workshops in jb that does nothing but overhauling autotrans. The real specialist.

Thank you Sir.

Appreciate your helps for responding to my queries.

In that case, overhaul or recon does not really matter to me.. in fact, as you mentioned, the quick turn around time will be my preferred choice since both method yields that same result, but i need to have my car back soonest possible.

Come to think about that, then any workshop can actually do the job, right? they can simply sourced for a recon unit.. :-)

Once again, thx a lot for your helps.

not all can do, only the experienced one know what to do and do it fast and right.

taking down the gearbox is not that simple. It involves dismantling all the drive shaft components and the cross member(aka 车脚).

there a few jb kakis here maybe can tobang you.... :D

Industrial Park one no more liao. They join to become a big one, just opposite the temple. Turn in before the traffic light.Keep left is towards the workshop, keep right is the carwash.

Customer service is attentive, but pricing not that good. Or maybe I am too cheapo. lol [laugh]

I went there to get a quote too. Do go early coz once the queue forms will take sometime as mechanic need to do checks. I waited from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Heng got a canteen opposite. The have a comfy waiting room though.

For warranty what I heard is 6months. Same as what I get for the WS that I went.

thanks for the advice. but found out from internet that their service may take about 2 week (or 10 working days excluding weekends) which might be a problem to me...other workshops offer 3-4 days with around 2k - 2.6k...

hiaz... should have changed the car 3 years ago... but due to bad economy and was being retrenched then... bad timing...could have saved 30K-40K of COE, too... [bigcry]

Erm, my dad's Toyota CVT gearbox is starting to make that robotic noise. It still shifts smoothly though, but it's that strange noise [it's not loud, but the gearbox definitely sounds different from before], that's worrying me.

Is that a cause for worry??

yeah...that's what they told me too... 10 days excluding weekends...no courtesy car provided... <_<

Thereafter done in JB with a good bro's recommendation here. Good and knowledgeable mechanics! Only 3-4days work including time waiting for parts to arrive.

Most importantly great savings! [thumbsup] Only inconvenience is the travelling back to sg and gg back to collect car.

Now peace of mind liao... [cool]
