I am trying to drill a hole in the ceiling with a normal power drill and concrete drill bit.

No matter how hard i tried, the drill bit cant penetrate beyond the "skin" later (which is about 5 mm). The concrete is very super hard.

Anybody have the knowledge on this ?

The first skin is always v hard to poke one

once thru easy liaoz...

Must hammer the area hard and ensure got some moisture to lubricate the drill bit.

Once thru the first skin, the resulting hole would guide you through.

Last time my contractor was drilling near the windows to install my heavy curtains.

The contractor drill untill his drill bit koyak! Seems like my window horizontal column part is actually a metal I-beam. The contractor call in his super heavy duty metal drill to finally drill the multiple holes!

I suspect you could have hit the iron rebars on your ceilings.

Perhaps you can try to re-drill another hole some centimeters away from the original hole.

If still difficult....then it means your drill is not heavy duty enough and might not have the 'hammer' function!

my drill says got a switch which shows a hammer sign. I supposed its means hammer drill.

But still cant drill through beyond the outer later.

I ever drill my walls before to hang hamock. No problem.

But today I am drilling ceiling. Its very very hard inside.

I called a hardware shop near my house, they said I must use a special heavy duty drill which cost a couple of hundred bucks. They said the wall is different from ceiling. I guess they are right. Ceiling must be super tough otherwise how can it stand the heavy weight.

Neutral Newbie

Ceiling slab is reinforced concrete.. walls are brick.. try to use a smaller bit to drill a pilot hole before using the correct drill bit... I've drilled 6 holes in the ceiling before using a 600W hammer drill, so unless your equipment and drill bits aren't up to it.. you should be able to do it as well..

It's not the toilet or master bedroom ceiling hor? You sending a probe thru hole is it? Are you installing ceiling fan?

A simple issue would be, that our drill bit may be dulled.

Try a new concrete drill bit. also, do not push all the way, add pressure and release, then again,

The bit needs some cooling before hitting the surface again. Constant pressure will burn the bit dull.

If your drill has a "hammer" logo, that will suffice, no need go buying some other so called expensive drill the hardware store is recommending you.

That would be a anchor hook, not the regular run of the mill brass hook.

I am installing a 150cm long punching bag. It weights about 48kg.
