'No smoking' rule in coffee shop ignored

LAST Wednesday, I was at Ting and Ting Foodcourt at Block 494, Jurong West, around 7pm, and saw three customers smoking at a table in the "no smoking" area there. The coffee shop owner did not do anything to stop them.

I hope the relevant authorities will step up their spot checks to ensure coffee shop owners enforce the "no smoking" rule.

Also, it should be made compulsory for coffee shops to display prominently the relevant hotline number for members of the public to report instances of non-conformity to this rule. In this way, the authorities will be able to take immediate action against coffee shop owners who do not enforce the rule.

Anthony Goh

Isn't there a NEA hotline he can call to send officers down to spot check?

Unless owners face hefty fines then they wl be more on the ball abit.

How come gov don't hire more Officer to go around catching people?

Or is it that officers also knock off at 5:30pm, so evening time cannot catch smokers.

Or could it be these officers will purposely find work to try to stay in office all day, like iso9000, filing cases, preparing agenda plans, do PowerPoint presentations, etc.

Smokers normally don't care about the people around them. Even can see people smoking at multi-storey carpark ignoring the new rules.

If you're the only one at the MSCP, then why bother about the rules? Just smoke la! You scared your car kena cancer?

take photo... write to NEA...

this will get the coffeeshop in trouble...

coffeeshop owner's pocket not pain... no action will be taken...

once kena fine by NEA... they will automatically enforce the no-smoking law.

some may say abit harsh.. but that could be the only way to improve the situation...

not true about the knk off at 530pm.

NEA officers are on stealth mode at offence-prone districts usually ... i.e little india.

These NEA ppl knows that they need to approach possible 'nasty' ppl to carry out this task....( didn't I tell ppl here, ALL smokers are nasty in some respect) :D

So rules like this are called...LIP SERVICE RULES.

Maybe Anthony Goh wasn't taught this, when he was in school! [laugh]
