What to lookout for when considering used XC90?

Need advice from the experts here...

 

If considering a used XC90...what are the factors i need to weight and consider?

Bumping an old post as I have the same question!!

 

Hi. I had to scrap my xc90 when the gearbox needed to be replaced.

So that's something you definitely have to bear in mind.

 

Also, the lower arm bushing tends to wear out pretty fast

How old is your XV90, is it not better to have the gearbox repaired by workshop then to scrap your whole car ?

Did you have the GM gear box? Read a lot of horror stories!

yes. coe was supposed to end march 2016. the car lasted til september 2015. so 9.5 years. i have a friend who had to repair twice in ten years. 

 

in which year is the used xc90 you are keen in produced?

Thanks bro. What's the usual FC you can get?

I'm looking at one with a few years coe left, then renew. So 2008-2010 model.

Looking at XC90 cos the hit I take on others like Q7, X5 are too big...

Otherwise, I am highly likely to renew my current Jap mpv which has a few more months of coe

the old xc90 fc was terrible. city driving 300+km per tank. 

initially i had the same thought as you. renew coe. glad the gearbox went out before that. i took back ard 28k parf value when scrapped. that would be nought if i had renewed. but yeah, still less than q7 n x5

 

xc90 good to have till end of coe. to renew, in my opinion, not good. especially if you did not own it from day 1

Yeah sometimes its all about the timing. Glad your old car gave you the signal not to renew!

i bought the kia sorento diesel. fc minimum 650 per tank. a much better car overall than the old xc90. couldnt afford the new xc90 ;)

not considering the new odyssey? new sliding doors version much improved on the old one

Nah i dun like the look of the new Odyssey, very boxy and square.

 

Yeah the new cars are crazy, xc90 easily 280k. Even the new odyssey is 150k.

 

If I renew coe it's 50k and a new 10 years.

 

Not really a heavy car user, so can't justify the big spending. ;)

@dsman one more qns, what is the servicing cost and regular wear and tear replacement (e.g. Brake pad) Expensive?

 

My fren who drives a beemer say his can reach up to 2-3k for regular wear and tear replacement, so keen to know the xc90!

a normal servicing, plus replacement of parts such as brake pads will set you back by 1+k
