merc is definitely worth it, comparing to Audi's and BMW. It's more reliable, Faster and Safer.

If u are talking about handling, Audi and BMW gives u better handling. But Both are not that reliable.

Looks wise, Mercs are very conservative, Audi are better in styling.

Given the choice of both cars, i would recommend an imported C180 1.8 variant or C200.

C250 is JUST the ECU tuned up. Same Specs, engine & transmission and everything

It is not worth it on a C250, as the price difference from a C180 to C250 is more then 20k.

Think about it, 20k on ECUs?

I could buy 10units of laptops at 2k each.

Thank you Mr Froggie [:p]

Other than the power, I guess the other difference is the smart key and remote boot release.

Is it true we can tune the ECU 'outside' ?

Cheers [rolleyes]

This is to sum a comparison, of what u can buy for that money.

Spend money must see value, that's why u buy a conti over japanese, value!!

alternatively, if u want to be really fast, u can take a plane. lol..

Yup, u can!!

But if fast is what you want, disregarding the cost, just head to C350.

which is more worth it, 3.5 v6 @ $263k

But at that price, i would recommend the A7 instead.

An imported ones is going for $266k.

wise choice to go for MB.

with the estimated price in Sgcarmart,

C180(1.6L-IL4): $170k

C180(1.8L-IL4): $190k ($20k)

C200(1.8L-IL4): $201k (+$9k)

C250(1.8L-IL4): $211k (+$10k)

C300(3.0L-V6): $230k (+$21k)

C350(3.0L-V6): $264k (+$34k)

in term of performance, C350.

in term of budget, C180(1.6L-IL4).

in term of overall including features, performance, worth-the-bucks, etc, C250.

Hi Guys

I would like to clarify...

The difference between the various M271 based models eg. C180,C200,C250

is the HP and TQ figures. However, these figures are not due to only ECU mapping.

Further changes are made to the pistons and engine internals. As such you are not just paying for the tune.

As to the question on whether you can have it tuned outside, the answer is yes but to a limited extent for now

Please feel free to drop me a pm if you should have any other questions and ill be more than happy to answer them in detail

Cheers

Thanks Ladykiller and Cerano,

Just a question ,

C250(1.8L-IL4): $211k (+$10k) <-- what is the (+10k) for ? you mean optional ?

$211K is the list price, what would be your advice for a reasonable discount

(sorry I have not buy a MB before [laugh] )

Thank you,

Thank you,

Comparing one level lower, C200(1.8L-IL4) to C250(1.8L-IL4), the price difference is another $10k more ($201k vs $211k).

for me, i won't want to pay $10k less for a 184bhp/270Nm to 204bhp/310Nm and you get smart key and remote boot release.

forget about going aftermarket ECU tuning, which high likely will void your warranty and you might not get the exact tuning from MB factory.

pay a premium ride for just $10k more, why not?

as for the "reasonable discount", it's all depends on your bargain skill and how desperate is your SE. [laugh]

Turbocharged

Newly launched MB models C n C NORMALLY dun give discount and very very little.....

Once the hoohah settles, those overtrades or discount or buy C200 get E200 promos will come in.....

When enquired about the E-class coupe, last year, it was strictly list price, along with a waiting time of ~4-5mths.

Think besides the diff in HP and Torque there are other features to differentiate the 2.....

I see, thank you for the explanation.

Silly of me :D

yup Ladykillerz has explained to you already

Personally im not in favour of going for OBD or other "Generic" tuning programs.

The best tune you can get for your MB is a customised and specific tune from a reputable tuner eg. Brabus,Kleemann, Renntech. Just as how you would choose MTM for Audi/VW

You want good handling on a C250?

Swap out your original suspension for height and ride adjustable coilovers.

Instantly better handling than Audi Quattro (Audis are nose heavy, given the position of the engine over and in front of front axle)

Can equal or even better the stock BMW in handling. Of course if the BMW also zhng, then tough fight lah. But C250 got turbo and even then you can still tune it up.

Enlighten me on the bore and stroke differences between the 3 variant?

From what i know, they are the same, but maybe i'm wrong.

I also totally agree on not tuning ur car, if u buy from cnc.

tht's why imports are the way to go.. cheaper in everything. same car~
