This year bought a G Shock king GX-56 1A.......very happy and like the watch very much.....really. Nice design and battery runs on solar....i attach the pic....so all can view....

abt a month after that.....suddenly the watch becomes foggy/misty inside....so suspects water enters.....i was like    ,how can that happens......G shock boy......bring back to the shop......"All Watches" at Lucky Plaza..........the boss Michael saw it and was shock too.......repair period a month

finally can take watch........then went home and saw that the crown (the inside) was not aligned properly.............bring back to the shop and waited another 3 weeks.........Boss called me.........

said Casio agent told him that this watch got design issue.......the side water might enter.........told me to select another watch........he compensates.....i was like    ,and they call it G shock King

but seriously got another colleague wearing same model....i saw the watch also misty and foggy........there's so much abt G shockpost-31726-1309101256_thumb.jpg

I love Gs too, but I have to agree, the quality ain't what it used to be.

I've had two tough solars. One G-lide (2310) and the other a G-5600. The G-lide had a complete failure of the solar cell within a few months. Got it repaired under warranty at Casio Sg. Problem returned. Gave up. This watch was made in Japan some more. [rolleyes]

The other one (G-5600) is doing quite well, surprising for a Made in Thailand watch.

Think it was a batch issue with the solar cells.

i told the boss from "All Watches" at Lucky Plaza......since u said this model got design issue....as told by mechanic from agent....then should recall...cannot display and continue to sell......he said no instruction from sole agent to recall......finally i choose another model released in 2011...GDF-100-1A,got alti/baro/thermo meter, hopefully nothing happens!!!!!!!

but disappointed that can't wear the g-king....really new designpost-31726-1309102383_thumb.jpg

I have a G-shock still surviving nearly 20years, but the plastic outer covering has disintegrated several years ago. But the watch is still alive and kicking. I keep it as a souvenir now

I have another G-shock much more recent, but had some circuit board that failed last year, and had to be replaced by Casio for $50 (as the warranty had expired). For all their ups and downs, I think G-shock is quite good, on the whole.

G-Cock?

I have this morbid thought everytime I am in a plane. If the plane crashes, would the G-shock still be working?

Remind me never to fly the friendly skies with you. [:p]

It might well remain intact (or at least functional). They've driven jeeps over these watches, and they've survived with a few scratches.

Tangentially, the CVR ("blackbox", even though it's Day-Glo Orange in colour) is also supposed to be practically indestructible. There was this old joke about the blackbox - if it's indestructible in a plane crash, why don't they make the whole plane out of the same material? [:/]

aside from the shock-ing watch, i am more surprised that a shop in Lucky Plaza will entertain after-sales service - twice !!

maybe its a isolated case of bad design?

I love G-shocks and have been wearing them since secondary school

my trusty and faithful G-shock MT-G 520 served me close to 9 years already still going strong

if i were to get another watch it would no doubt be another G-shock

The name is G-shock KING not water proof king mah [laugh]

Think quality not as good as before...maybe in the back of their mind...most people buy G-shock for the design and seldom put the water to the test...
