It would be tragic if one day either side did not back down and conflict occurs..

But from the military enthusiast's point of view, it will be interesting to see the outcome of a Flanker vs Falcon showdown.

China is behaving like thugs nowadays.

hmmm.... so who's right who's wrong?

and not to mention US fighters and surveillance aircrafts have been intruding other countries' airspace countless of times in the past decades

M’sian airspace invaded 2,508 times by S’pore

| June 20, 2011

Singapore's fighter jets illegally entered local airspace more than 2,500 times since the republic gained possession of Pulau Batu Puteh in 2008.

KUALA LUMPUR: Singapore’s fighter jets encroached Malaysian airspace 2,508 times in the last four years, it was revealed today.

Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin said these trespasses were recorded after Malaysia lost Pulau Batu Puteh to Singapore in late May 2008.

“These are just from fighter jets. This (record) hasn’t even taken into account non-piloted drones encroaching Malaysian airspace,” he said.

He was reading out from a written response from Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to the House at a press conference in Parliament.

Khairy had asked the minister the number of times the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) planes had illegally entered Malaysian airspace in the last five years.

According to Ahmad Zahid, 985 RSAF encroachments were recorded in 2008, post-Pulau Batu Puteh.

Zahid added that another 1,286 more took place in 2009, though the number had decreased significantly to 218 in 2010. As of May this year, a total of 19 incidents were recorded.

“Even though the number has gone down since then, one encroachment is one too many,” Umno Youth chief Khairy said.

Given Singapore’s limited airsprace, Khairy speculated if these RSAF encroachments may have been made during takeoffs, or something more serious.

Even so, Khairy said that any invasion of Malaysian airspace by RSAF fighters required prior permission.

In stark contrast, Khairy added that the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) was highly territorial when it came to their own airspace.

“When our jets and helicopters are near the Singapore-Malaysia border, their (RSAF) combat helicopters and jets will take off and wait (near the border), ready to intercept,” he said.

Khairy claimed this was revealed to him by his associates in the Malaysian Special Forces.

“Singapore is very territoraial and protective of its airspace, but it appears we are not,” he said.

“This affects our country’s sovereignity. What are we going to do about this?”

Malaysia is evaluating the Euro fighter to replace its aging MIG -29s.

Good if they stick with non american warplanes while we fly F15s and F16s.

These are the warplanes with a track record to boast. Not some fancy nice looking aircraft which are not even battle proven.

Why not just launch a missile to kill the drone?

Or fire flares to destroy it's jet engine?

Encroach into Taiwan airspace is china wrong.
