Satria_neo Clutched August 16, 2011 Share August 16, 2011 Just check if the smell is coming from exhaust or engine bay. Cause its normal for car to have petrol smell on a cold start. The ECU will run rich to warm up the engine, its also harder for fuel to evaporate (as everything is still cold). Hence resulting in incomplete combustion. Satria_neo Clutched August 19, 2011 Share August 19, 2011 Anyway modern cars don't need any warm up,just move off slowly will do the job, save fuel & enviroment. Thats incorrect though. All cars need to warm up actually. Be it past, present or future. Its because metal expand when heated thus engines are designed to have optimum tolerances at operating temp. Of course, there isn't a need to be stationary when warming up, just move off slowing will do. Avoid high rpms. ↡ Advertisement
