Both are the flagship models of their respective car companies.

EVO UK magazine, apparently the most respected car magazine in the world, test drove both cars in a head-to-head comparison in its latest issue, and came up with a result that is sure to be surprising to many especially the badge-snobs.

What marks out the LFA for particular praise is its bravery and originality; for Lexus to create such a car from scratch, with no evolutionary engineering or existing bias from which to work, is a remarkable achievement. Innovative, extreme, immaculately executed and exquisite to drive, it

Won't have much bearing on us humble mainstream car owners but on the bright side, let's hope some of that uber technology Toyota developed in making the LFA trickles down to its more "real-world" car models.

I don't think Toyota intend the LFA to beat existing and established models like Ferrari.

Being a flag-ship super car technology, Toyota actually uses it to try out how far it can push its engineering concepts and innovation into a marketable product and also to generate potentially competitive ideas that can be implemented in future mass-market vehicles.

In fact, this has already started with the FT-86 and next GS models..

But in S'pore the LFA costs the same as the Ferrari.

Just hope that the local Toyota is desperate to regain the lost leader....an price the FT86 and GS at a cold price.

That will benefit us or the car buyers in singapore.

You want to buy FT86 and GS on the cheap right? Haha. If Toyota wants to regain lost leader, it won't be banking on sales of FT86 and GS, which are niche market.

Compared Lexus with GTR or NSX ? Toyota built Lexus is to challenged the upmarket luxury segment of ang mos make. Be it upmarket luxury cars or upmarket luxury sports. LFA is not any TDH car. The amount of tech in it is  Also, the price difference is

The Toyota Supra is the one made to challenge the GTR and NSX. But both Honda and Toyota has ceased building these models and left only Nissan with their GTR. These are the super cars of Japan.

Read it somewhere that Lexus is losing money at the price (which is already qutie high) they are selling the LFA :o

Not a model to really make money directly for Lexus, or to take away customers from other highend supercars producers

I think the problem with LFA is that despite the price tag, its looks very much like a Celica.

Its good looking (surprising coming from Toyota Corp), but doesn't looks the apart (which is like 2 million bucks in Singapore?).

I think the question that people need to ask themselves is: if you had the budget to afford either comfortably (but not both), which would YOU take?

For me, it's the Ferrari. EVEN if the LFA was quite a bit cheaper (which it isn't).

At the end of the day, a Ferrari still outranks a Lexus. Maybe given another 10 years of car dev, that bias would soften, but for the here and now, a Japanese (or other Asian) car manufacturer has to price its supercars a lot cheaper to compete with the ang mor ones. especially the Italian marques. The Nissan GTR fits the bill nicely.

Ah, but I suspect you'd be in a minority.

I believe that most of the LFA owners out there are ones who already have a few Italian supercars in their stable. At least from the evidence I've seen on exotic owner fora. Extremely unlikely for a "first time" supercar owner to choose a Lexus over an Italian marque.

Should I dig out that Robert De Niro clip from "Analyze That" again? [laugh]

Rhetorical question - you know I'm gonna do it anyway.

If I could afford either comfortably I would actually buy one Exige and one Range Rover [;)][laugh]

And with luck I might just have enough left over for a classic car from Autobahn - drive past the other day and there's some beauties sitting there.
