VW has been marketing some sexy cars lately. Anyone being to their showroom today to test-drive the new Golf Cabrio 1.4TSi? Waiting time is a good 75mins wait for test drive. Looks pretty crowded today, loss my patience waiting and decided to head home. At $140K to pop the canvas roof with $29K OMV, is this a good deal?

$139k for a 4-seater German Cabriolet is not bad at all~~ Can probably get a Jap 2 litre saloon for this price

Truth enough, with this price camry/Teana or even Accord is near in choice...

was at the launch. very much like the A3 cabrio in terms of interior space, roof folding, boot opening etc I wonder if its the same platform?

didn't go for a test drive. didn't intend to buy anyway. happened to be around the area.

A close comparisan would be the A3 1.4 - OMV 28k and COE - 48k, cost is about 113k.

C180K - OMV 31k and COE 48k cost at 119k - current list price is 172k

The VW Golf Cabrio is selling at 140k, profit will be around - 27k or less. I would say a good buy based on today's COE and for a "Lifestyle car".

Very tempting but Cabrio not practical in Singapore. No sun, sunny day too hot .... Cooler day ... likely to be raining. It would be a nice 2nd car if have the extra $$$$....

test drove the VW Cabrio, yes its is FUN!

For a 1.4 l drive, and if you are a cabrio fan, this is one of the cheapest cabrio in teh market, not to mention, its a conti

Good drive, for just 1.4, there is TSI though.

compare with other Cabrio in the market, (apple to apple, not porsches.)

Saab Cabrio I think 2l?- over 200k

Mazda Cabrio 2l cloe to 200k or over 200k

Also to add the VW Golf of the same engine and specs is a few k lower than the VW Cabrio.

In most brands, if not all, a Cabrio of the same specs will cost at least 10k more, all becaus its a lifestyle choice, open top.

2 seaters with good leg room for back passengers, boot space reasonable.

All in, a good buy even with a high COE today. This Cabrio is slightly higher in price compared to VW Scirrocco.

So flamers, pls dun compare this VW Cabrio with Jap saloons.. (silly comparision)

comparing a Cabrios to other cars like Merc B class.. camry.. etc is just not right.

Should compare cabrio to cabrio. If you are a cabrio lover, you will not consider a A3, even if the price is lower than cabrio. (Given a imaginery scenario)
