fiat = conti car... the 1.4T is really fun to drive, but that said, wear is evident once you hit 4-5 years. Parts for most conti cars are expensive as usual, and servicing also is a tad higher than that for a Japanese marque.

generally, there's no such thing as an unreliable car these days. however, Jap cars are more reliable in this climate due to the way they make their cars.

selespeed is actually cheaper to maintain than a normal autobox. however, the wear rate may be faster. so regular changes of all the fluids and oil are important. for eg, the manufacturer does not recommend gearbox oil change. but it's still better to change it. also know the privateer workshops that do such cars in case u are dissatisfied with the agent.

i happened to drive around in a fiat grande punto which had the same auto gearbox as bravo. not a very nice drive. it's actually a dry clutch with an automatic clutch actuator controlled by a computer.

the reason why there's no creeping is because the car only engages "half clutch" when you command the accelerator.

i have read around and asked a friend who also used to own a bravo and the general consensus is that the gearbox wears faster than regular 4spd japanese gearboxes, but the repair costs are moderate.

but of course, the 4 speed is a dinosaur. Volvo, VW, BMW, Merc all have various issues with their 5/6/7 speed auto boxes too.

My Bravo T-Jet manual has been reliable during the 3 years I owned it.

You can remap the ecu and get around 185hp and 270Nm which is pretty good.

The only gripe I have with the car is that the FC is not very good. I get an average of 10.5km/litre with my driving pattern. My DS3 THP with 1.6l turbo engine gives in excess of 12.5km/litre with same driving pattern.

The steering on the Bravo is also very light and doesn't have a nice weighted feel to it.

Hi there. Will be getting my bravo t-jet manual next week. Quite excited about it cos not been driving manual for 5 years. ANyway about the rims issue, since the pcd 4X98 is hard to find, any recommendation where we can find a custom spacer to fit those 4X100 rims. Any tyre shops having it or we have to customise ourselves at those metal works workshop? and any other workshops having the diagnostic scan to service our bravo instead of the usual 3 workshops (as.ac.in)

thanks all

Spacers need to custom, 4x98 to 4x100. Can find Vincent at Eng Wah Tyres at Toa Payoh. He's very familiar with the Bravo's PCD.

Did mine with him, but I did a 20mm 4x98 to 4x98, just to push the stock wheels out.
