air purifiers = involves single or multi pass of air through HEPA filters to remove particulate matters

 

air humidifiers= passing air through saturated steam to increase water vapour content of air. Again, may be single pass or may be multiple passes. Some humidifiers may have purifying capabilities in the form of HEPA filters meaning these types of humidifiers purifies and humidifies (2 in 1)
