SINGAPORE: Five vehicles were involved in an accident at the junction of Victoria Street and Bras Basah Road at about 7am Sunday.

The vehicles involved were an SBS Bus Service 133, a van, a car and two taxis.

Witnesses said the bus had gone past the traffic junction even though the light was red.

They said it swerved to avoid hitting a Silvercab taxi which was travelling in the opposite direction but failed.

The bus went on to clip another three vehicles which were waiting at the junction for the traffic light to turn green.

One of them, a taxi, tried to avoid the oncoming bus but it got hit, spun and knocked into a traffic light.

The bus finally ploughed into a lamp post outside Carlton Hotel.

An SBS Transit spokesperson said three people from the Silvercab taxi were hurt and sent to hospital.

One of the three passengers on the bus was hurt and given outpatient treatment.

The SBS bus captain has been suspended from duty.

The SBS Transit spokesperson said: "This is a terrible accident that could have been entirely avoided. We are very sorry that this has happened and certainly do not condone the actions of our driver."

The spokesperson added that the injured were not seriously hurt and all of them received outpatient treatment.

TP will seek witness account [:)]

but the black car seems to be the least damaged, thanks to its carbon fibre stickered bonnet. [laugh]

i thought CF is to protect the driver?

i believe CF is primarily to reduce the weight of a vehicle (more for racing application), on impact it should cui to take the energy out of the crash so that lesser energy will reach the driver... based on my understanding lah...

Suay!!! So those injured can sue SBS???

the 2 taxis sure claim SBS till their pants drop off [laugh]

maybe the one hospitalised can blow big his injuries claim can't drive for life due to psychological phobia, back ache, etc.. claim everyday earnings $300 never take day off and can drive another 30yrs if not for the accident.. wahahaha.. can imagine the claim for loss of future income against SBS.
