since i never take my car to malaysia, a spare is basically useless.

rather then add weight, i remove it.

also creates a space to hold unsightly items like rags and waxes , cleaners etc..

Kept spare tyre in the car for 5 years but never used.

Last 1 year, I used twice - once in SG, once in JB *priceless*

For that life-saving experience, I will continue to keep my spare tyre..

thats exactly what i thought so as i dun drive to malaysia too. but as wad others said, it could be a lifesaver if u're in msia. in sg, i dun see the need as a tow truck can be activated easily.

Supercharged

Regardless whether I do drive to Malaysia or not, I always keep my spare tire in my car.

But I do have a friend who take it out, reason being for better FC. And he doesn't drive to Malaysia at all.

I'm always under the impression the spare tyre has another purpose to absorb energy from rear end collision, but I couldn't find any literature to support it.

as above. wanted to know if the majority of drivers leave their spare tire in their boot or leave it at home.

I think all this are myth.... . car designer dun design safety feature with the spare tyre in mind, and also mean what? if you happen to use spare tyre due to punture means ur car for that moment no longer road worthy??
