Neutral Newbie

Hi, I encountered the same problem with my ride about a year ago. The cause was attributed to a faulty switch sensor connected to the brake pedal which MI had it replaced after I sent in for repair.

If a woman finds that power is lacking, it's.....

Better look at FXT.  :D

Actually, is there anything that can be done to improve the acceleration for the xv?

Wife love the car and wanted to buy it, but I found the power abit out of expectation...

I just serviced my vehicle. 4th servicing. My milage 15K

Ask me to sign package for S$1200 for 2 standard and 2 major service.... i was like wth.... nvm... i will do single... then they say only have major servicing for my milage which is like S$378...

then try to hard sell all other al la carte menu... brake pad S$280... tyre rotation S$20.... ac filter and air refresh S$93.... 3 in 1 engine refresh S$78 (dont even know what the hell is that)..... battery quoted S$240.... do these ppl get commission?

Think this is too much.... i really wonder what they do other than oil change.

Anyone can recommend a reliable and proper Subaru servicing workshop?

Above are standard practice for most ADs.

That's why they are willing to give long warranty period to tie you down to their servicing.

If you don't mind giving up warranty, google for BKS or BMS. They specialise in Subaru.

There are others also (at least one more in the same building I think).

Another way is buy MI package which is cheaper than paying individual servicing, and resist taking up things outside of the optional nice-to-have packages that MI may push to you.  Also, remember to use your DUO points to make the servicing cheaper.

Also, selectively do away with warranty for some sub-systems of the car to save costs - e.g. battery change on own? (likely will void electrical system warranty).

After perhaps a few years of warranty and car still ok,  then give up on rest of the warranty and go outside.

Outside Subaru workshops definitely cheaper than MI but have not used them for servicing.

Went to them to install acessories and did compare then but can't remember exact $ now.

You can just call them up.

Labor cost is SGD30 for oil change if you bring your own oil. Oil filter also can be bought from stockist or the workshop also have them for 12 I think.

Hello Guys, I am encountering a strange issue on my 1.5  year old XV. It was a good smooth ride so far with FC of 12km to 13km per Lt. but for past few days when I start the car in the morning, the engine automatically raves up to 2K to 2.5K RPM (previously it used to be just around 1.2K to 1.5K RPM) and stays there for 30 to 40 seconds or so.

And after this raving of engine, I have observed that smoothness from the ride is gone and also considerable drop in my FC which is now only about 9 to 10 KM per Litre

I don't think its petrol quality (always pumping Caltex 95 for past 1.5 Year). Have any of you experienced something similar ?

Maybe you should state if any oil change recently, or when is your last oil change.

My guess is time to do oil change.

Thanks for a pointer. However I did my 20K servicing from MI just 2 months back and now the reading is around 25K (and next servicing due is for 30K) So Oil may not be primary suspect here..!

Suspect maybe water in the petrol (read in other forums had happened once in a rare while at some Spore petrol stations).

Not sure what is best option.

Perhaps take car to MI to check but not sure if their mechanics are good enough to know what is cause and what to do.  Anyway, still under warranty so no harm to try.

Of course, one way to test is get workshop to drain petrol completely and re-pump (not from same petrol station in case still have the same problem).

When to see XV today at LK and was quoted $96800, calculated ard $8820 yearly depreciation sound like not a bad deal.

But I forgot to ask abt the free servicing, freebie and etc, anyone know?   [laugh]

Btw, what is XV FC for 50/50 road condition? And what are the standard freebie and "bargained" freebie? Thanks!

The only thing I can think of is oil, we got a member from group chat that had oil replacement by mi and only to found out they use 5w40 instead of 5w30 as stated in the service note. Fc suffered, engine rev higher like yours.

So he went back and had them replaced and since then fc back to normal.

Not sure if yours is the same issue.
