With CEO, without CEO, with monkey or fish as CEO, I think has absolutely zero impact of MRT performance.  It has been proven.

I propose save the 2M salary and reduce train fares by equivalent amount.

Correct man..with him around..he will just be raising his voice at his staff everyday after getting phone calls from LTA chief exec..which will only make his MRT staff more tulan and demoralised...we dun need such intermediaries or eunuchs

I say save the money.. [nod]

Root cause is the population size increase. It's too late now to roll back the tide. How to encourage people who are already here to move out or go back? [laugh]

A system like the smrt is hard to fix when it is required every day to be operational. There is no way to shut down the system for proper replacement or upgrading. This can only be manageable if the ridership is within a reasonable number.

But what happen in recent years is that in trying to maximize the utility of the system, it has been overstressed and has no spare capacity to tolerate "downing" for the necessary fixes.

What is happening now is that the only fixes possible are "band aid" type solutions that are quick to implement but does not constitute permanent, long-term fixes.

It goes to show how putting the wrong people at the top, and for so long insisting to keep the person there (it's not desmond's fault, he just dropped in recently) ... can lead to irreversible consequences. I say again, irreversible already - I don't give smrt train system much hope of improving.

root cause , is very simple and straightforward.

our mrt is commercialise. profit is above every thing else.

no matter who u throw in also same.

look at hk , last time got report ,

their mrt older and serve more ppl then us.

and their maintaiance / repair cost is many time of our mrt.

i dun know their system

but maybe mrt is hk is consider a public transport/ service?

maybe they have low or no profit end of year.

but they got no/less breakdown also.

I believe though there be delays, etc. but if the population was way lesser, then at least it would be more tolerable. There would be less crush to travel through alternative means, for example.
