I only took the new route only. Cos got young kids and elderly. Cant risk it.

That same trip I drove up to penang as well.

Damn good experience I must say.

The route ipoh to penang got nice scenary

^-^

Must take Tapah route at least once, Simpang Pulai is not as fun and training extensive.

don't take the tapah road esp if your car is fully loaded with elderly and young unless you don't mind a car full of vomit

in my most recent trip, i drove down cameron using the tapah road. had to go at very slow speed to avoid motion sickness for passengers.

:D

I saw quite a good number of MY plate cars stall in the middle of no-where along the route both going up/down.

But no SG cars.

Simpang Pulai is nice, but not very different from Genting roads. Tapah is more curvy, but the real test is Gunung Brinchang. [laugh] Having said that, I've seen a lot of Kelisa go up GB on good days -- they could be stuck on a wet day. I've even seen SUV kenna stuck. Maybe driver problem.

You drove up to the top in a Saab? Is the path friendly to big sedans?

Can, I've done it in a slightly lowered wrx and a similarly lowered legacy wagon.

As long as it's not off road, should be alright.

A couple of pot holes along the way, just go very slow will do.

Last Friday: Arrived at Nova Resort Hotel after nearly 6 hrs of drive from Kuantan.

Made 2 petrol refuel stops; 1 at Ajil & the other @ GM, topped up just to be safe. Had 70 litre tank .....filled tank at Ajil, arrived @ GM with nearly 1/2 tank down (abt 30 litres) of undulating terrain & braking, plus intermittent torrential downpours.

First time checking into this new hotel cum mall, indoor adventure theme park & eateries.

Junior suite, comes with a kitchenette (fridge, microwave, crockery & cutlery, electric jug), glass-enclosed sleeping area, living area & balcony:

Planning to go in dec. woohoo

Might be wet & prone to landslides. There was once when I was already there, a small settlement got buried. Also, be prepared to put up with heavy traffic in the highlands becos of sch hols & festive season.

Since I've been to Cameron Highlands so many times, decided to forgo the usual attractions.

First time I set foot on Tringkap, lunched there, explored the narrow lanes & peeked into the houses of the locals.

Lunch at Old Frenz, as recommended by 2B Driver:

The duck was nicely seasoned (duck breast meat) with hardly any fat under the skin. Rm16, reasonable.

But the green dragon vege dish & the salted egg yolk sliced bitter gourd were overpriced @ Rm 12 & 18 respectively.

There are many other Chinese cooked food restaurants around Tringkap; shall give others a try next time.

Supercharged

Land Rovers in different kinds of set ups:

Yup.....CM is one place I will remember, which has the most Land Rovers (the Defender model) and pickups (Hilux especially) I have ever seen on Malaysian roads. These vehicles, no matter how old and rusty, still drive effortlessly on CM roads, either uphill or downhill ! [;)]

Brightly lit & spacious parking in B2 & B3 of Nova. It's very convenient; direct from carpark to the room levels. However, I find this arrangement compromises security/ safety; no card access needed in the lift that takes one to room level, even as security guards made frequent rounds on bicycles & motorbikes among the parked cars. IMO.
