How to inform them? If at the junction, would stop beside them and tell them.

But when moving in expressway ?

I tried switching off and on my headlight to alert him, instead he switch another lane. He thought I would want to overtake.

Mind your own bloody business, it is their life and their choice.

Never high beam or horn at them or else they will most likely jam their brakes and even stop in the middle of the road in front of you.

Just drive away from them to avoid unnecessary trouble.

i think some of the models are with auto-light..or with lighted dashboard...

this type of model, usually driver will not be aware whether they switch on their light or not..

frankly, switching on their light is to let other to see them, not so much of lighting up the road..

some ppl really dont know abt it..

also after 7pm, it is compulsory to switch on their headlight.

These drivers upon seeing their meter dash light up will auto assume their headlights are switched on. Some more our streets are also brightly lighted up, so switch on headlights or not sometimes can't even tell.

Drivers who don't on headlights actually endanger other road users. I once almost bang into such a car when I drive out from a parking lot and he was driving past in front of my car....

TP should booked these drivers to ensure public safety.

Thing is Singapore road is really bright and perfect.

Don't need light to see clearly, don't need light to warn animals from dashing onto the road, don't need light to tell other cars another car is bpnearby, etc.

So on headlight is not important. Except it's mandatory after 7pm.

Perhaps you can high beam that car, and then go in front of that car to let the car high beam you back. The other driver will need to on his headlight first, in order to set it permanently high beam.

You will accomplish the mission.

I tried many times before. High-beam for drivers in front, rear fog lamps for drivers behind. But I notice most of the time they are too busy talking with passengers in their car and never even notice, which is probably why they forgot to turn on their headlights in the first place. Or, they assume you're being irritating or signalling to someone else since they're not aware they're not doing anything wrong.

On 2 occassions, I managed to stop next to the car when stopped at traffic lights after following them for a while, horned at them to get their attention, pointed to the front bonnet and use my left hand with fingers in forward twisting motion to show the turning on of headlights (at least for non conti cars). It worked both times with the other driver smiling.

I fully agree with the view that headlight should be turned on in poor lighting or rain to increase visibility so that other motorists can see the vehicle and not merely for lighting the road ahead. Also, turning on parking/side lights is usually not bright enough for visibility when driving.

Happy lunar new year to all. Have learned a lot of useful matters from forumers during the past year. Drive safe.
