I don't understand why the TP don't summon these flouting cars who jamm up the roads and yellow Box?

Surely if TP summon them every day, these cars will come to their senses.

So even if appeal....surely there come a time when the appeal must void for those frequent flouting parents.

I don't get it...is it TP gave up summoning...and working with the school to get a win win solution?

This is not an easy problem to solve, you can't stop parents from sending kids to school. School should continuously work with LTA to manage the traffic flow. As parents we can also play our part,

1) Don't make U turn just bcos u want to alight them at the school gate.

2) Don't park or wait at the roadside, prepare your kid well so that they can alight the car in seconds upon arrival.

3) Don't alight them in 2nd lane and risk their life dashing across cars. Drop them further and safely and let them walk a distance. Your kid won't die walking that extra dist to the gate.

4) Plan your time. 7-7.20am is usually the peak period, avoid these timing. You don't have to end up rushing for time and drive recklessly.

Isn't summon one of the solution?

Although waiting may not strictly be an offence.

Waiting by the road side Causing traffic jams is surely an offence? No?

1) avoid dismissal of student all at the same time. Parents only come and pick up and leave. Not wait to pick up like taxi.

2) open another entrance or exit to the school, so traffic flow smoothly. No need a deadlock.

3) close the bloody school gate to prevent parents from turning it. Any car stop by the road side more than 1 min will be summon. Normal pick up no need 1 min.

4) school to engage school bus to ferry students back home. School to absorb the partial cost of engaging school bus.

Honestly, if the school just worked with LTA and made a dropoff point somewhere near the school where traffic is not so heavy, and had a shuttle bus fetch the kids into school, wouldn't the problem be solved? Just 2 shuttle buses will be more than enough, since the dropoff point should be about 5mins away. "Working with LTA for the past 3 years" and can't come up with a solution?? Scholars. Tsk.

Don't need to stop the parents - siimply don't give them ANY concessions whatsoever. Make them stop properly and legally. Even if dropped off, the kids ccan still walk a few hundred metres right?

Cannot tell me they have to be dropped right outside the school. Make the parents obey the rules - if not then fine them. If the kid has to walk 5-10 minutes to get to school, then too bad. They are kids - it won't hurt them

very simple....find less crowded place probably not too far from the school...within walking distance type...for drop off and pickup....after that then walk to school....ask those fat prince and princess to have some exercise is good also...there is no need to drop at doorstep.... [confused][confused]

Just curious: does this problem exist in NZ? [:)]

My 2 cents.

Make nearby carparks desinated pickup points. Put up sign to direct parents car there, & have car stickers for parent for 30 mins free parking to pick & send kids.

They can choose to walk the kids to the gate or let the kids walk themselves.

Marshals are there at major junction leading road crossing to diect the kids, & barriers are drawn up to prevent kids bashing the roads. Marshals should also depot to prevent parents stop at gate, unless the kids is inconvience, which they need to show with car sticker.

Marshal can be retire elders, the job isn't too stressful, & only short periods. Its a nice way for them to earn extra income also.

If you guys think this is a good plan, I draw up some diagram & send to LTA for consideration. Thanks.

You will need the parents to be cooperative too lah. I can bet my money even if there is a carpark, there will still be errant parents who won't cooperate.

That why must fine & better yet banned the car within the school zone those that will not cooperate.

The sad truth is people here only cooperate if things are enforce. Talk senses like consideration & such do not work well at all.
