In case of flood, do not attempt to try your luck.

Especially, if you have modified air intake, open pod or low, low placement of intake hose.

Once water get sucked into the engine, damage to con-rod, bent valves are very likely.

Engine overhaul is next.

actually not only the engine. low lying components like electric steering rack, alternator, aircon compressor all do not like to be submerged. if they dont die immediately, soon or later they will spoil faster. Bottomline is as much as possible not to swim thru. driving in the rain and splashing water on these components is very different from submerging them in flood waters.

The whole engine is actually water proof. Water can only get into ur engine via ur air intake (air filter) when one drive thru deep flood (I mean pond). When too much water (incombustible) got suck into the engine, its likely to crack engine blocks! and would cost one thousands of dollars to fix it.

That is exactly what happened to the Mazda2. [bigcry]

Mazda has petrol engine so as soon as the HT leads to the spark plugs get too wet the spark gone = engine stops....

Taxi has diesel engine so no spark plugs to worry about. Once the engine is running, as long as air intake and exhaust are above water level then will run forever. Case in point....

The right word is incompressible and not incombustible. Meaning get to say the engine is hydrolocked.
