Paint thinner to clean cat?

Any bros know what is the  simple basic difference between thinners and turpentine;  I mean in terms of oil painting (used in metals and wood) and Wall paints (well used in interior walls  and usually diluted with water right only??? );  Also why is kerosene not used this days??

 

Seems like some of the workers use turpentine to make the oil paint thinner and some use thinner (but very sparingly) to make it less dense but whats the diff??? 

 

Any bros can share ?? Also I guess both can be used to clean hands after a painting job and after using oil  painting brush we use thinner to clean the brush right???
