DACH Supersonic September 30, 2017 Share September 30, 2017 refer to my post about how something that works for office workers, don't really translate that well into the heartlands. In fact u can see some older folks refusing the tray. and just taking the bowl. Lol i only spotted ONE aunty cleaning the tables when i was there. sibei shack. considering it's a 800 seater HC. my wife from her reading, say tiagong rental is about 3k No wonder I still see some empty stalls inside. Mustank Hypersonic September 30, 2017 Author Share September 30, 2017 I've been there. Will definitely try the salad stall. I posted my review of the hakka bowl in makan thread. Not worth the price though. the taste is there but execution is still not up to standard. Some hits and misses 1. Much more airy with good ventilation. 2. The nasi lemak stall may have some competition siah. I see at least 4 malay stalls operating (2 pure nasi lemak) and 1 malay chicken rice and 1 bao ga liao stall. Which is good, since in coffeshops, u always only see the same bloody boring indian muslim stall. Misses 1. The tray service doesn't really work well in the heartlands. The people going around the estate either have children in tow or are pulling grocery trolleys etc. A tray takes two hands to hold most of the time. My wife say if she go herself with 2 kids around, she will just dabao home 2. U can't get refund from the app supposedly, so i didn't use it 3. The hawkers take longer if u use cash, as opposed to a simple cash register, they definitely take more steps just to process a simple sale. While it's no difference for me, i think the hawkers find it more leh cheh considering since at least half of their customers use cash. 4. The designers of the building only designed 2 entrances of a building that's open on all 3 sides. So u see a lot of people trampling up and down the grass slopes. DESIGN FAILURE 5. Timbre runs the ONLY drink stall similar to other kopitiam run hawker centers. To earn money, but i think getting a drink there is a long wait. I brought my own water. To me, this is a coffee shop disguised as a hawker center Later I bring my truck there sell coke $1
Mustank Hypersonic September 30, 2017 Author Share September 30, 2017 so after 5.5 years, how many out of 7 hawker centres have been built? ð¬ð Doesn't matter It is not a hawker center It is a giant coffee shop True hawker center is abc market, red hill market, tampines market, whampoa market, bukit Merah central, bukit Merah view, tiong Bahru, airport road, changi, One drink store, obviously for who?
DACH Supersonic September 30, 2017 Share September 30, 2017 To me, this is a coffee shop disguised as a hawker center Later I bring my truck there sell coke $1 1 can, $1 dollar also cheap. I go there confirm buy from you. i stayed 2 bus stops away. haven't been there, nor have any plans to. heard so much negative. i usually just eat at the coffeeshops opposite. So many people here live in Yishun?

Victor68 Turbocharged October 1, 2017 Share October 1, 2017 if we build hawker Center to cater for general public, then the desig must be consumers friendly and not toward generating high yield rental. don't maximize number of stalls and allow more circulation and other spaces. ensure stalls are big enough and no spill outside stall. space. rental to include cleaning cost so that NEA will be responsible for cleaning. no more awarding to the lowest. I think these are basic to start with

Kb27 Supersonic October 14, 2017 Share October 14, 2017 if the food is good and reasonably priced, people will come. I've seen some more popular stalls there, will slowly try them out. Especially got some malay food, i definitely want to try. Well, I accompany a fren to Yishun Park Hawker Centre. Tried a few stalls: 1. Western food - food is nice, although a little bit on the high side I guess 2. Ramen - this stall is overpriced. $3.50 for a small bowl of noodle, comes with half an egg and ONE little thin slice of meat. Wtf is this ? Kobe pork ? 3. Carrot cake - after the ramen still hungry, so try stall carrot cake. $3, quality not bad. On the whole, the price is not cheap. Remember to steer clear of the ramen.

The white beehoon is not bad. One of the noodle stall that sells the curry chicken noodle is also not bad.

Kb27 Supersonic October 15, 2017 Share October 15, 2017 Usually the older and dirtier means the food is better and cheaper! I just ate at Tiong Bahru Food Centre. It had reopened after renovation. The food is generally good and relatively affordable. Compared with Yishun Park, you get more value for money. However, I noticed that the environment is much hotter. The problem I believe is the heat trap of the ceiling. Yishun Park is well designed, high roof and no heat trap. So it's cooling. Every hawker centre should have been designed like this.
