SINGAPORE - Police arrested a 57-year-old man on Friday for molesting a woman in an MRT train.

He is alleged to have molested the 25-year-old victim at Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station on March 5.

She made a police report the next day.

Police established the identity of the suspect and arrested him three days later at Whampoa West.

Investigations are ongoing. If found guilty, he faces a jail term of up to two years or with fine or with caning or with any combination of the three punishments.

In other countries, the molester will be held down by other passenger while someone called the police. The police will come, the others give eye witness account. Case close.

Uniquely Singapore. I m more curious why no one reacte on the spot, then with the police.

My guess, which I hope was wrong, is the other just 'see show'.

I believe it could be the victim frozen with fear, or panicked and did not call for help. Example: I ever saw a man beating a woman. The woman did not call for help. All of us not sure if it is for real. Finally I questioned the man, his relationship with the woman. The woman did not mention otherwise, when he declared himself to be the husband. The crowd relaxed upon hearing that.

The moral of this story scare me.

It just prove that the police can track down anyone easily...just a matter of AiKaMaiNia....of course the status of the person making the report also very important.

My guess, that man was wearing a uniform with a company logo on it or some huge organisation, police just have to go to that company and look for him... Easy.... [:p]

My point is that the police actually took the effort to search for this man.

Not sure why this case is so unique.

But it has regained my trust in the police work.
