Low Depreciation Cars Recommendation?

In this climate of high COE, I'll looking to get a second hand car with low depreciation.

I'm looking for the range of 6-7k depreciation annually (I really like the civic, but depreciation is like 9k annually).

I don't mind slighty older cars, 4-6 y/o, but it should look decent, even hatchbacks are fine.

Any recommendations?

Nissan Sunny is the cheapest but you must select 2005 year. That's the cheapest of the whole lot. Spare part is cheap too.

Side-trek alittle, Proton Wiras are the cheapest (cheaper than the Sunnys). Are the wiras really that bad?

Sunny should be manufactured in Japan (unlike the Vios or City, which are made in Thailand).

How is the FC of Sunny, heard it is not too good.

Well Nissan Sunny may be not so good in FC but think of the price. The rest of the Civic and Altis are probably 2K more per year. Do you think the fuel will be extra by that amount? The strong point on Sunny is low cost spares and little maintenance needed. It is always a balance between what you get and what you pay for. Sunny seems to be in the sweet spot for cheap and reliable runabout. Choose manual trans if you can, super cheap becos not popular.

G-Plate vans are not worth buying because they are also depreciate around Nissan Sunny 2005 models. The down side for commercial vehicles are :

1) High Insurance

2) Cannot go into Malaysia (although you may not need to)

3) Speed limit restriction

4) Passenger capacity

5) Reduced comfort and enjoyment compared to a proper car.

Upside will be carrying capacity (if you need).

These 2005 Sunnys are selling like 20K to 23K with a scrap of 7K after 3 years, you have nothing much to lose. After driving for 3 years, scrap the car and get back your money. Not need to sell to dealer.

On the other hand, if you buy those 2007 cars, after driving for 3 years, the car will be 8 year old, then that's the time really nobody wants. Think about it carefully.

Anyway, a final note, if dealer comes to buy, the price surely will be low.

Red plated kimchi and certain brands of contis.

You can probably get a Citroen 1.6 for that kind of depreciation.

Civic is certainly overpriced. If you wanna get that you might as well get an accord 4-7 years the depreciation should be around the price if u include the money you get when you dispose of it.

That said , kimchi has no disposal value. Buy cheap sell cheaper
