Advice needed for used C4 Grand Picasso

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am thinking of changin to this ride here.

C4 Grand Picasso

My main concerns are reliability, servicing costs and parts availability. Does any bro have experience with this ride or dealer and is this car ok to go ahead? Has been serviced with C&C all the while.

Is there anything to look out for before I sign on the dotted line? I am considering this and a honda stream. thanks!

Reliability: 6/10

- All the people I know owning Cits had/have problems with their ride.

Servicing: 7/10

- If car is still under warranty, should be ok cuz C&C does offer good servicing packages for new Cits.

Parts: 5/10

- Parts can be a pain especially for major components cuz they cost an arm/leg. Not much stockists here in sg. for eg. an air-con blower fan can cost up to a few hundred.

I would say go for a safer bet. But if you can really find a relatively new C4 in gd nick, haggle really hard for it cuz most dealers makan french rides at really low prices. Next is to find out any left over service credits and dig out any service records to see if there's any inherent problems. Cuz its french.

Conti without warranty [thumbsdown] If die die want C4 GP, try checking with republic auto, they sell mostly used C&C cars and give one year warranty

Hi bro, Republic warranty is only for Mercs I think..

1. CatA

2. >$20K diff.

3. Most important, i would not buy any MPV without rear aircon (personl preference)

Yeah, very true about the parts issue, thats why did not commit on the spot for this ride. This is a coming 5 yr old car so there's no more warranty. A safer bet would be a honda stream (2008) that I am also considering, that car depreciation is around 500 more per year but no major concerns regarding reliability, parts and maintainence costs. So difficult to decide.

parts?

citroen parts cheapest for conti brands already

Compared to?

Ok I may agree some of their parts like sensors and fitments are considered cheap against other conti marques.

It's the major parts that break the bank.

No doubt, its a Nice ride, high OMV, higher than Stream but cheaper re-sale price, I hope by now you know why......if you dont mind potential issue you might face, buy, wont lose much since its already low price. If a car is only about its looks, then this would win, but its not.

To all potential Citreon buyers, do check if the model you are buying has material which will warp under Spore hot weather. Mine is a Citreon C4 Grand Picasso, within 5 years the glove compartment totally warped and C&C wil tell you sorry, please buy replacement which costs more than SGD 300 a piece, when it is clearly material issue. They will use warranty expiry as their excuse. So beware!

Maybe I unlucky, bought it when 3 yr old, mileage only 16K KM, was under agent maintenance, within 12 months of purchase, repaired:

1) Gear box - cannot go above 3. Damage = SGD 800

2) Rear suspension needed replacement Damage = SGD 1K

3) Noisy engine, needed engine remount Damage = SGD 900

Servicing all by C&C, above is after abt 20% discount when you sign service package.

Hi Kansatish,

My side door grip, made of rubber material, has many scratches, something I have never seen in other cars. Worse was the car stereo flap, which the car dealer helped me to respray as it was really sticky to the touch. All these reinforce the fact that material in this car was meant for Europe conditions, not for tropical conditions. For the sake of new customers, I hope they have fixed this.

(edited)

It depends on the manufacturer. Not all conti cars are like this.

My old 156 had the same sticky issues with all the plastic parts, but my Brera, MINI cabrio (despite frequent exposure to sunlight) and the S class didnt have such issues.

Yes, I also noticed my Grand picasso interior parts were getting sticky but I sold it before it turned 3.

Edit: i know there are replacement parts for the alfa when the rubber/plastic parts get sticky and all scratched, or u can carbon fiber them. Dunno if there are such things for the citroen.
