for my S3... can download Norton Anti virus for free....

it helps in a way as it will scan all downloads...

just thinking if it is required cos there are much more people that did not bother to install.....

i installed but uninstalled it...dunno how real the antivirus is.

 

maybe someone sld downloaded a trojan infected file to android, scanand see if they can detected it?

I prefer Lookout. Using it for my Note. It also has the Locate Phone function.

Why Anti Virus is needed for Android phones is because of 2 reasons (at least to me anyway)

 

1. Although i think that Google is trying to "mimic" iTunes for Google Play, it is still nothing like iTunes, where Apple is very strict on the apps that are listed in iTunes. You'll never know when you will download a rogue app.

 

2. If you have a habit of downloading 'paid' apps from other sources other than Google Play, you'll never know if its a Trojan or wat.

but so far, i only know trojan and other viruses exist in deskop and laptop pc...not sure how true about smartphones.

 

are there many viruses for smartphone? i dunno and i dun think so.

 

in fact, many apps are can be considered 'trojan' as they could be running in the backgrd 'listening' to us.

I suspect some anti virus apps are also trojans.
