Dleodleo Twincharged April 9, 2015 Share April 9, 2015 Hi guys, have read up all the 9 pages of Batam here, am going on a short trip on Sun-Monday (2D1N) staying at Turi Beach Resort with CO, CO Bro and wife and my client and his partner. Like to seek the advice of the old birds/frequent travellers on Batam on the following: 1) Seafood for dinner, have read online on Rezeki, Sei Enam and Whey Whey? Are either of them ok, don't intend to get chopped if possible. 2) Shopping and proper massage wise, Mega mall Batam Centre, Nagoya Hill Mall? 3) Necessary to get local line to get Blue Bird or silver taxi as I heard they running on meter? If can call from hotel and the place I eat for dinner then no need to buy their local prepaid card. Thanks In Advance to All Turi Beach is abit far to Nagoya. Need to ask hotel to arrange taxi for you. I don't think you can just hail a taxi from Turi Beach roadside cos that area very ulu only resort. Email the hotel for taxi or transportation rates. I read in this forum where her father is a taxi driver (chinese) in batam. You can refer to this forum: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/travel-accommodation-89/travelling-batam-indonesia-4624071.html There are few popular massage - Eska, Go massage, spa secret and etc. I did a compliation of spa rates from different spa for my July trip last year. If you want i can email you. I did my spa at Go massage cos they provide free transfer within nagoya or town area. I think turi beach may be abit too far for them to provide free transfer. You can check with them. Shopping wise i think Nagoya is better but their things is abit expensive. Do not forget to go to the supermarket at basement, there are alot of cheap buys especially on toiletries (although their prices are higher than other supermarket elsewhere in Batam). I have my seafood at harbourbay seafood restuarant somewhere near harbourbay ferry terminal. There are a row of seafood restuarants facing the sea such as wey wey and etc. Quite cheap, I took 1 black pepper crab, 1 chilly crab, 2 fishes, prawns, kangkong, rice, beer and drinks around SGD80+. ↡ Advertisement

Hi dieodleo, thanks for the update. Just back on Monday, went for Go Massage, no free transport but manage to negotiate for two way including waiting for us for dinner at rezeki, Turi beach not bad for a whole day of nuaing, if for shoppers maybe not to their liking as mentioned, too far from Nagoya and Batam centre shopping. Had my A&W after soooo many years hahahaha... But overall good experience if you know your way around, I managed to get all the details elsewhere before heading there and also had advice from the city tour guide. Jamesc Hypersonic November 14, 2016 Share November 14, 2016 I always put business when I travel to Indonesia cos if they ask me to pay for the visa I can claim from my company. If put tourist and have to pay under table money I cannot claim from my company. If your company won't pay for your visa and ask you to put tourist find another company. I always wear business clothes and carry a laptop bag and customs always know I am there for business. As if Indo customs so dumb just put tourist and they "believe" you.
Dleodleo Twincharged November 15, 2016 Share November 15, 2016 Just stay safe and be alert. The Consulate of The Republic of Singapore – Batam, has asked Singaporeans planning to visit Batam from 14 – 16 November to exercise vigilance. The consulate said that there have been media reports on the possibility of major demonstrations during that period and that the demonstrations are expected to be concentrated in Batam Centre. http://theindependent.sg/major-demonstrations-in-batam-singaporeans-advised-to-exercise-vigilance/

Hshs 5th Gear January 9, 2017 Share January 9, 2017 (edited) Just return from Batam. Everything look peaceful. We hire a mini van and driver to bring us around. Below are the things we do for the two day one night tour in Batam. 1)Try the local traditional Indo food(Alway do when I went oversea) 2)Visit dry seafood market. They sell lot of cheap and fresh crackets. 3)Eating live seafood. The was the highlight of the tour. The restaurant have a good view of Batam famous Barelang Bridge. Foods was yummy and cheap too. We also having some fun for choosing our own seafood. 4)Massage, many comment their silk are better than JB. 5)Watching movie at Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall. Although the ticket was less than S$4. But suprising their cinema are better than some in SG. We also in time for two great show Great Wall and Railroad Tigers haha. 6)Buying seafood at wet market. Much cheaper than SG. We staying in Nagoya Hill Hotel. I will rate this hotel at 9/10 due to cleaness , friendly staff and nice breakfast. Shopping mall behind the hotel is not my cup of tea. I got nothing to buy although is huge. Famous brand like Nike was not cheap. Last I would like advised when we at immigration pls be silent. This apply to any custom in the world. Not only Indonesia.
