inShareThe home owner's older brother (58 years old) was slashed thrice on his head.

The New Paper

Friday, Jul 27, 2012

Three members of a family were injured during a robbery attempt at their home in Taman Sentosa Saujana estate in Klang, Selangor, on Sunday night.

Family members were sitting in the garden of their bungalow at 11.30pm when four men jumped over the fence into their house, reported The Star.

The men, who were armed with machetes, threatened to hurt the family members if they resisted. The robbers then entered the house and the 82-year-old matriarch, who was indoors, fell.

Enraged, the family members who were outside rushed into the house to rescue the woman and fight the robbers.

Sources told The Star that the family managed to detain one of the intruders, but the other three escaped. But two accomplices returned a few minutes later to rescue their friend.

During the second fight, a family member, a man, suffered a slash to his head and another was slashed thrice in the head, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The two are believed to be brothers.

A third man in the family suffered serious injuries to his head and body.

Empty-handed

The intruders fled empty-handed in two cars after freeing their friend.

The three victims, said to be aged between 20 and 58, were taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital and were in stable condition.

The family has been living in the bungalow for three years and this is the first time they faced an attempted robbery.

A female member of the household said her family will be beefing up security

The Star/Asia News Network

Monday, Jul 30, 2012

JOHOR BARU - A warden with Singapore's Changi Prison died after he was ambushed and stabbed outside a pub here.

The 43-year-old man, identified only as Ravi, and a friend were attacked when they exited a popular entertainment outlet along Jalan Melodies Merah in Taman Melodies at around 5am on Sunday.

Ravi died after he was stabbed three times by several men who cornered him and his friend M. Gunaseelan, 29.

Gunaseelan, who managed to escape, said they tried to run in different directions upon seeing the men armed with knives coming towards them.

He said two men chased and punched him while the others went after Ravi and stabbed him.

"I threw my wallet with RM700 inside at them and asked them not to hurt me further," said Gunaseelan, who works as a baker in Singapore.

"When I turned to look at Ravi, he was already lifeless," he said.

He added that Ravi, a Singapore permanent resident, left behind a 39-year-old wife and a three-year-old daughter.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Yaacob said the attack was a result of a misunderstanding after the victim brought beverages from outside into the entertainment premises.

He said an argument ensued, which led to a fight outside.

Those with information can call the police hotline at 07-2212 999 or head to the nearest police station.
