Hi all, will be doing the above servicing next week after getting my 2nd hand Swift. It's out of warranty though and i would prefer to send it to AD as i don't have a trusted workshop.

Anyone has any experiences to share when you sent your car there for servicing? Like did they a good job and check every detail thoroughly? I'll be taking Menu C i think, $378 for Synthetic Oil. Are they persuasive in the sense that they will push you to change the parts which are still in good/okay condition? I might probably get duped if that's the case as i do not really have much mechanical knowledge. Also i discover the audio CD player can't eject the disc i inserted in. Can i get this repaired there as well? How much do u guys estimate this cost to be?

Pls help. Thanks [:)]

Warranty for car audio is 1 year. Unless your car is less than a year old, they will charge you for repair/replacement. Better get it done outside.

CD player spoilt, just install new one. If you ask them to repair it might cost more. 80k service should be under warranty, can claim, but beyond 100K, i think better get the new one....there are bunch of aftermarket CD or DVD player...based on your choice...

Can ts advise how old ia the ride? Think most warranty covers 3 yrs or 100k which ever comes first?

Service at CM is ok and pricing wise isn't that expensive as compared to other ADs.

For my normal servicing, I send in at 9am, collect at 3pm. If your previous owner has always been servicing at CM, they will have the records and you can just continue servicing the car as normal until it is time for the major package then they will advice you accordingly. Menu C includes spark plug change if I'm not wrong, hence the high price. For my 06 Swift, I'm always doing the mineral oil one. My mileage is low.

My last 110k servicing did a battery change, ignition coil, gasket change.

Battery they will test for you and at that time my batt wasn't totally dead yet but the reading showed a drop in the voltage. So I just changed for a peace of mind since it was 1.5 years old and I don't like to everyday standby see when the battery will just give up on me. The others, they told me gasket leak, so I just went ahead with the change. Ignition coil - that one caused my car to keep jerking when stationary due to misfire. Changed both that cost $400 in total including labour.

Old car sometimes cannot help it. Wear and tear. At least they have all the parts ready and not tell you come back one week later etc. Things like engine mounting they will still need to order but you can let them know in advance to order before sending the car in for servicing.

They only have one main centre at Pandan. So if you are coming from the other part of the island, it is really inconvenient to go back into town area by public transport. That one and only SMRT bus can bring you to Haw Par Villa Circle line station and because it is travelling along West Coast Highway, the buses are always speeding and you got to open your big eyes to flag down the bus early. I was distracted and the bus just zoomed past me. About 3 times already.

I was told the other centres do servicing only. And for old cars where you have lots of wear and tear parts that needs to be changed, it is better to go back to Pandan. They told me if I bring to say Tampines which is nearer to my house, if they need the parts, they will go back to Pandan to take. So you might not be able to collect your car on the same day.

For full servicing at $378, if it includes spark plugs (though not iridium) and ATF and brake fluid, coolant flush, think is quite reasonable for agent servicing.. Go outside also abt there...

Might consider using ur own iridium spark plugs, think they will give u the normal plugs bring home if use ur own...

How does one test ignition coil anyway?? Can this b done by outside workshop? Complicated procedure?

Thanks for all the replies. Am certainly more enlightened now

By the way, how much do you guys think will be estimate cost of the audio repair if i want to do it at CM? Also i have sort of a bumpy ride right now and the car sort of 'jumps' when going over humps. I search around the web and found out it could probably be the shock absorbers wearing out? Heard changing it can cost around $600-$800 for 2 pairs [knife]

For audio repair, not worth it at CM. Assume they charge $80 to $100 but after the repair, also

no warranty. Better change a new head unit outside. Low end HU cost ard $200 come with 1 yr warranty.

For your shock, you may want to check the $$$ with CM when you go for your servicing. Then decide

whether to change at CM or outside workshop.

It could be just your tyre pump too much air. It will cause the ride to be more bumpy. To check if your shock is spoil, you can drive along CTE towards SLE along bradell and AMK ave 1 exit, that stretch the road is quite uneven. If your car goes up and down even after travelling on smooth road, means your shock is gone.

You can refer to your recommended tyre pressure on the side of your vehicle doors. Mine is on driver side while some could be on passenger side.

If you worry so much about ride comfort, I would suggest you to go for full servicing, change out tyre, absorber, engine mounting, door rubber seal, fan belt, fuel pump, wheel bearing, drive shaft and battery. Your car will feel brand new.

Just do a simple test. Press down on the four corners of the car. See if it bounce more than 2 times. If answer is yes. Its time to replace them. If you cant press down. Most likely is your absorber jammed.

Not easy to press down for a hatch back. Car like vios if press down the metal will dent.

For stock shocks, I believe you can get KYB Excel-G shocks... They are commonly used and decent.

Can call up stockist get a price quote. Labour to install should be about $80 for front and back.

Read on forum can go direct to the distributor of KYB shocks also... Think its Yuen Thong or something... See if you can get a better price there.

Remember when they quote u price, usually is before GST, so better ask to confirm this.

Good luck!

well, just to share with you, i changed my engine mounting (complete set, i.e., 3 pieces) at workshop in Yew Tee in Apr 2012, the spares was easily available and it costed me ard $330 including labor.
