Does glucosamine cream work?

No, you're better off doing regular exercise and shedding some weight to take the stress

off the knees etc.

for me, it worked initially as it helped to numb the joint between both my big toes and soles. The pain that it exuded was more "hot" than the joint pain, but then as i jogged more, my joint pain increased, and it cant numb effectively liao...

They are supplements.

I take bee pollen, sometimes omega, sometimes glucosamine pills, multi-vit, ginkgo bulbs, collagen.

But I don't know they works or not? Just feel good, knowing I give my body the nutrients to repair and grow properly.

I guess it's not easy to prove and justify whether it works or not.

Neutral Newbie

I used to take the pills and also did apply the cream on different period of time. I think the cream is useless, but I also find the pills not very effective. Hence, I began to eat more lady fingers, and 鱼鳔 (yu biao, some parts of the fish) which are good for your joints. Besides diet, you can perhaps consider doing some sports which has less impact on your knees such as swimming and cycling. Allow your knees to recover first, don't let the injury worsen and bring it to old age. ^_^

Supersonic

I took some glucosamine pills once.

It has zero effect for me.

So I stop and save my money.

My knee joints were worn out long time ago.

Even had an arthroscopy done on the left knee.

But the pain returns.

It works for me many years ago, before that I took the pill for few months and heard it has side effect and I stopped.

Think I use less than half the tube and no more pain till now, not sure was due to the pill earlier, or the cream, or I change my diet (no beans products).

whatever cream is only effective if the target is very near or on the skin.....but the joints are way way into the muscles....wont work that way.

better off eating healthy food and doing moderate exercise than spend this type of money....wear and tear is just part of aging.

Does glucosamine cream work?

There is absorption via the skin. But it's likely to be inconsistent in terms of maintaining blood levels. Most orthopods i know are quite dismissive. The original product came from NUS and it's mostly hype [:)]

Glucosamine tablets have some small benefit to patient (not sure if wholly placebo or something more).

But in general to see any effect, it takes 6 mths.

My parents take it but it's purely placebo effect for them (i don't tell them though!) :D

there is minimum amount of dosage for glucosamine to 'work' or have some affect in rejuvenating the joint lubrication.

The ratio should be related to one's weight.

so i've been told. ^_^

i'm not a doc so you may want to check with your GP/research online for it.
