Mental incapacity: Few young adults take legal safeguard

More Singaporeans are warming up to a legal instrument that allows their next of kin to make key decisions on their behalf should they lose the ability to do so.

 

But not enough young people are doing so.

 

Latest figures show that more than 2,000 people have signed up for the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), which was introduced under the Mental Capacity Act in 2010.

 

It was reported in February that 1,400 people had signed up.
