I am interested to know too, I have also received requests to bring things like mooncakes, chilli sauce and ba ku teh (dried) seasoning there.

Neutral Newbie

As long as it has nothing to do with animals, it is fine. I have brought in pineapple tarts, customs checked them and it was fine, curry powder is fine. On the other hand, Prima's chicken rice powder is not ok, they took it away as it relates to animal. Obviously bak kwa (pork, beef) etc are not ok.

Yes, but long haul flight, you need to stow away proper, (Cargo) My son brought same for

some of my friends there 3 years back when he went for course, no issues, just make sure no MEAT

products, cooked or uncooked is not allowed.

One time I brought dried stuffs, including bak kwa and mushroom in.

I was caught and they wanted to fine me US$100.

But they let me go eventually.

That was at DFW airport.

I wouldn't try to bring in anymore food after that.

No point testing their system.

Pastry products like cakes, biscuits are ok. No meat products, like bah kwa. They are quite strictly about it, they also have sniffing dogs going around, beagles. But I did managed to smuggle bah kwa once via San Francisco [blush][:p][cool]:D

Would the following items be able to clear US custom?

1. large tin of Ovatine/milo/horlicks

2. Chicken curry flavour instant noodles

3. Ba kut teh mix (seasoning).

4. mooncake (lotus paste with egg yok)

5. mooncake (durian paste).

6. Prima Taste seasonings: Laksa, Beef Rendang, Chicken Curry

7. pineapple tarts.

8. 3 bottles of gastric medicine such as "WeiSen-U"

Thanks for sharing your experience. Received these requests to bring the items over and hope won't end up throwing them into the rubbish bin at the airport.

You think US is bad? Wait till you try Australia!

As the bros here mentioned, don't bring in any meat products.

You won't get into trouble as long as you declare. What's the worse they can do if you declare? They will simply impound it and throw them away.

Milo: Make sure it is made in Australia or Singapore, NOT Malaysia. Yes, they will impound Milo from M'sia.

BKT Seasoning: No issues...I brought in loads in June this year. Same goes for the rest of your seasoning stuff.

Bak Kwa: NO...but you can bring in pork floss.

I brought in all above mentioned stuff without any problems, and I did declare them too. They even directed me to the Green Channel without checking.

What about Prima's curry chicken and Bah kut teh powder? Do they related them with animals too?

When I previously traveled to US by United Airlines, I traveled light and only had a hand-carried luggage and a laptop.

This time round need to bring quite a number of items over. How many check-in luggage are allowed and what is the weight restriction?
