Any bros here driving an NC MX5? Is there a need to send it to an particular workshop, if any, that specialises in the MX5? Or is the car so simple mechanically that any workshop can service it, flush ATF etc? Thanks.

Personal advice, even forums, say go to so and so, best send back to agent if it was from them in the first place.

Not worth the small savings.

Yes they do.

And it is a "mechanically simple" car, naturally aspirated and not much electronics. [:)]

Neutral Newbie

I drive an NC MX5.

Based on own experience, the agent is not that great either, if you are expecting things to be done up according to manufacturer's standards. However, if you are not too demanding, servicing at the agent will do, because it's not like the car will explode or something [:p] . The agent does have the technical info and equipment. Problem seems to be that the people are either not competent enough or just can't be bothered.

Have since found a pretty competent mechanic at Shell Auto Serv Boon Lay. I know he's competent because I've seen him performing the work, and I am aware of the manufacturer's standards. Does make sense though; they used to be an authorised workshop for the agent.

I am driving a 2nd hand PI RHT MX5

Relatively trouble free car

Servicing just like normal jap car can already

Nothing special since it is a NA engine and not much eletronic stuff.

The agent Eurokar do provide servicing for PI car but the price is 3 x higher

They quoted me 1.3K++ for normal service

i owned it for 6 years...an awesome car.  Zippy, and that model I had comes with paddles and was really fun.

Maintenance was cheap and reasonable.  Many outside workshops can do this.

Its a car you must own once in a lfie time, ie, a top down car.  Go for it

Define small built? hahaha.

I am like 1.73m and 83kg.

Is that consider big?  [:/]

lol.. I will if I get.. still considering.. I find the new MX-5 attractive too..

Price a bit on the high side.. also comes in both 1.5L (PI) and 2.0L (Eurokars).

But only Eurokars have manual.. the JDM one I never ask..

I felt cramped in the car. Definitely won't enjoy driving more than 1 hr in the car.

I'm 1.8m.

Your built is probably pushing the comfort level liao.

the NC seems pretty fuss free.

Few friends owned pre-owned units for 1-2 years
