Need help: Keyless entry/engine system

Hi Folks,

Need some help from those car experts here.

My car uses a keyless entry/push-start button system. It is factory fitted (JDM).
In the last week or so, I started having issues opening doors. Intermittently I'll have to press the door button / keys a few times before the doors will unlock.

Today for the first time, my car could not even start! The key could not be detected! Finally after letting the engine rest for a couple of mins, I managed to get it started again.

I've changed my key batteries. Confirmed also not the car battery since I changed it only in Feb 2012.

What other possibilities are there? Also if the engine can't detect my keys again, what else can I do to get it started so that I can drive it to the workshop?

Appreciate your help.

Cheers!

OIC...paiseh.

No battery not corroded. Did a check & even changed the batt just to be safe.

Steptronic, yes I checked the 2nd key as well. Same problem.

Usually there is a sensor near the centre armrest, check is there alot of stuff inside,i don't know much about Subaru, but for Nissan there is a hole below the dash to put the key in for emergency.

My Toyota not Subaru, but also Keyless entry/Engine start.

With totally dead battery. i will open door manually with the emergency half cut key.

Place the transponder beside the start/stop button for starting.

Different car may have different arrangements for emergency starting of car.

I tried once in this condition

I keep a spare battery for the transponder in the car. Replace it and all back to normal.

If you suspect transponder unit faulty, it's around $300-$350 a piece ( 4years ago price) to clone.

Most probably the programming "ran", just need to do the reprogramming. Drop MI line and let them decide whether to tow the car in or the breakdown service guy to come down.

Thanks all for giving your advice.

Have tried most of these as given in the manual as well.

None did work.

Anyhow, an update.

Brought it to MI this afternoon. Tech did a check on both my remote keysets and found 1 of the battery to have weak voltage (approx 3volts).

So changed the battery and now hoping its simply a weak battery issue.

Though it doesn't answer the question about the other 'not weak' keyset experiencing the same issue.

Could it be you accidentally actuated the child lock ?

Wat u mean by tat? Coz usually when u pull the handle, it will have a click sound, but nw its silent n cnt be open from inside.

It a safety feature mend for children where you dun want yr kid to accidentally open from inside.

Therefore when the door open there is a small level at the side of the door.

Maybe it have lifted and only able to open from outside.
