Atrecord Supersonic September 21, 2012 Share September 21, 2012 hi all, me bought Hyundai Verna 1.6A in May last year, then past 1 yr plus no prob except not much power and high fc. then abt 20 days ago, aircon got hot air, and could hear 'water gushing around' type of sound in bonnet. after car cooled down at night, opened radiator to see and had to top up ~3.5 litre of water before it was full!! next day drove to workshop but after checking half day told me can't find any leak and told me monitor first... for a week, i everyday checked radiator water level twice and always full. my mech laughed, so i didn't bother anymore. Then yest on way home, heard funny sound and later going into basement carpark could feel car vibrating and hear like got water boiling and streaming through narrow pipe... slowly parked and 2 hr later, went check again and had to top up abt 2.7 litre of water. this morning before went work, initially checked ok, but after car moved off, could hear water gushing sound again, then when stopped and opened radiator again, could pour in another about 600 ml... Yeobh 4th Gear September 21, 2012 Share September 21, 2012 (edited) Do your mech have the cooling system pressure tester and leak down tester - if not how is going to check for very minute internal leak that happens only when the engine cools down and resulting in high negative pressure being created in the cooling system. From your encounter...if your mech can still laughed ...i think is time you seek another opinion and ask him to go fly kite...coolant/water don't go disappear for no reason..and at such a huge volume......there must be a leak somewhere... Warthog Clutched September 21, 2012 Share September 21, 2012 Obviously a leak somewhere. 1) Either into the engine which is serious. Check your oil quality. 2) When the engine is cold, if you pour in water, water leaks out immediately. Either the hoses or radiator needs to change. 3) If the leak happens only when the engine is running, then see where the leaks are coming from. Sometimes, it is as simple as a loose hose. Your radiator fan is not working when the engine is hot. So the engine overheat and the water is forced out of the system went out of the overflow plastic tank.. Fitvip Supersonic September 21, 2012 Share September 21, 2012 There is no leak from your radiator or hoses. Your radiator fan is not working when the engine is hot. So the engine overheat and the water is forced out of the system went out of the overflow plastic tank.. That is why your aircon not cold and water disappear. I second your reason. Tigershark1976 Turbocharged September 21, 2012 Share September 21, 2012 (edited) 1) Check your parking lot to find any coolant stain.... if there is leakage, there must be stain somewhere. 2) Check your engine oil, if coolant leak into engine, your engine oil will turn milky. 3) Check your radiator fan, if the fan fail, your coolant could boil and evaporate very fast. 4) water pump or pipe choke and causes circulation problem.... From how you describe, I personally felt that the 3rd possibility is very likely to be your problem. If there are leakage/ chockage, the reduction of water level should be quite constant.
