Mansa Musa was the african king who tip people gold nuggets when he went to Cairo with tens of thousands soliders and slaves. Shame the riches was lost over a few generations.

Well, IIRC the Chinese had a currency and banking system since before Han so there must be some means to quantify wealth. Only if the comprehensive records have survived through the many wars, dynasty change and plunder.

 

exactly.....the records like you say is not comprehensive or unreliable anymore...

maybe our very own king could be in the list, should his wealth had a comprehensive records... [whip]

interesting history about the "richest" man in history

 

- he single-handedly controlled the price of gold in the Arabia

- he built a mosque every Friday on his trip to Mecca

- his Malian Empire had more than 400 cities

 

a pity that his empire crumbled after his death, might be a turning point in history

if not, millions of blacks might not be captured as slaves by the white colonists 3-4 centuries later
