LoverofCar 6th Gear October 23, 2012 Share October 23, 2012 (edited) what is the difference between this 2?? to my understandiing is same same la...just different naming bY different car maker...may be I'm wrong......I think it applicable to those cars with dual clutch, semi auto, DSG or easytronic gear box.....so called automated manual gearbox.......basically, when you stop at a slope...the brake will hold for a couple of second after you release the foot brake...it is to ensure the car doesn't roll back..... Correct me if I'm wrong. Err you do know that auto cars can roll back on an incline right? The vios is a very good example. There's a reason why driving schools teach students to pull up the handbrake on an incline even though the car is auto. The reason is that people that are new to driving may not have enough confidence to move quickly from the brake to the gas. Well at least that was what my friend told me. The reason is that people that are new to driving may not have enough confidence to move quickly from the brake to the gas. Well at least that was what my friend told me. Yah I went on to read more articles and found out that some auto cars also have this hill assist function. I have driven a few brands of AT cars. Some have lesser tendency to roll back... Topspin 2nd Gear October 23, 2012 Share October 23, 2012 Mine is an auto (torque convertor) and it has hill assist. It is activated by pressing down harder than usual on the brake pedal.
