Yesterday my friend's 2012 Jetta suffered from a steering wheel lock which none of us was able to solve. His kid was playing with the steering wheel and got locked. Did full turn left and right but still cant unlock it. Reset battery also cannot. Somemore car is keyless and doesn't have key insert hole. Boh bian have to call VW to come and tow car.

Any owners of the new Passat 1.8?

Care to share on the reliability of the car ? Any issues?

Passat can be economical.

Still full tank after 137km on 95 Ron.

*2009 Passat 1.8, 6 speed Auto.

6 speed wet clutch is problem free compared to 7 speed DSG.

After midnight. SIN (from 2nd link) to KL in 2 hrs is doable.

Most vehicles (Malaysian reg ones) give way if you flash your headlights in advance and indicate that you would like to overtake with your 'right' signal.

But it is recommended that you travel with an alert and experienced co - driver who can keep a lookout for debris like tyres on the road and vehicles with faulty rear lamps, particularly those with single faulty rear lamps which make them appear like motorbikes from afar.

Probably the best executive mid size sedan for the price you pay. The 7 speed could be a problem but it would depend on your luck. I owned the B6 for 5 years...not issues. Driving my B7 for a year now. So far so good. Really comfy...

Mine is 6 speed Auto, which has been problem free. Not the 7 speed DSG (Damn Sedated Gearbox) which is notorious.

So there were 1.8 paired with 6 speed wet clutch? Do you know when did they switch over to 1.8 with 7 speed dry clutch?
