How abt those gas water heater? Is it more worth than electric type?

Upfront u incur quite a lot of cost, i don't see how it's economical.

The gas water heater is more expensive than the normal storage heater (few years ago, citygas offered the heaters at v low cost to entice people to use). Now i think it's a lot more expensive than a normal 25L storage heater.

U have to pay for the city gas connecting the pipes.

My sis (PC) just got quoted $500 for connecting the pipes to the hob and the water heater.

The upfront cost already wipe out whatever electricity savings u have.

And the worry about more pipes for potential gas leakage. mlmlwml.

Joven is good mah.... use back the same brand.

I'm using joven also.

No issues thus far. 2 years on.

Anyone has experience buying anything from local online retailer - Cost Plus?

Unsure if it's reliable, I sent an email enquiring on delivery charge. Reply was fast. Checked.

I proceeded to order Ariston storage water heater and cooker hood.

Naturally, I chose COD (since this option is available), not keen on accruing points on CC.

That was about two weeks before CNY.

Delivery didn't happen. I emailed them twice, but totally no response.

Luckily, it's COD. Heng arrh.

If you use Joven, if it's 3KW version. Make sure your installer change the wiring to at least 2.5mm per line best solid core type. Mine didn't change and the wire heat up and short and burn in half a year of usage.

Nowadays installer only care about how fast they get their job done. Peng.

If i replace the current storage heater brand to another new brand, can i use back the piping? Will there be any problem?

Unless exact same model, they will have to change/bend the last bits.  Anyway it should be all part of the installation.  The expensive cost would be the bracket if the heater does not come with it.  My last purchased came with bracket though.

I am using Rheem, which should last more than 10 years.

My Rheem was just changed.  Lasted 9 year and leaked badly.  The guy who replaced it told me that cannnot leave it on for too long.  Switch it on, 5 mins, go shower and then quickly switch it off.

Usually what is the lifespan of a storage water heater? Anyone using Joven storage water heater? Any review on this brand?

After Ariston, my Rheem (probably 10 yrs old) died, I looked around and saw Joven and other brands.

I took a chance on an unknown "alpha" brand.

It's probably 7 yrs old now and still working well.
