The brakes failed me momentarily at a traffic junction yesterday. Heard a loud continuous cracking sound when stepping on the brake pedal. Gotta used hand-brake to stop my car aka emergency brake style.

I supposed the cracking sound might be due to rain water clogging the brakes since it never happened again today but I'm not taking any chances. Brake disks haven't been change since I got the car 5 years ago so I'm contemplating to do it now.

My 2006 Magentis is on Nash*n 4 pot BBK. No regret! Much more confident in braking now. But costly for BBK and brake pad...

There are a few brand suitable for our ride. Nash*n, D1sp*c, DTMSp*ed.

Point to note is your rim offset. Or go for mini 6 pot....

My guess here is that the magentis and the sonata share the same brakes, since they share the same shock absorber.

If my guess is correct, the braking power and ability of the sonata and the magentis should be similar. Which in my opinion is average.

That means having to brake earlier and giving more distance between the car you're in and the car in front of you.

My guess is that if you use your car as a daily drive, your brake discs and pads could be worn out.

I know that my old merc brakes better than the sonata.

Why don't just change the brake calipers, pads & discs.?Still cheaper than buying those 6 pots brakes & slotted discs..

Cheaper way, service calipers, change oil seal.

Skim rotor if got scratches or uneven.

Change to higher temp pad.

Stock rim can fit n don't need to spend much.

Just my two cents.
