News: Unhappy bus drivers mass report sick 26nov2012

Summary. Due to the revised workweek from 5 days to 6 days scheme.

Many bus drivers have less OT opportunity, therefore their potential $2000(with OT) salary, is now reduced to $1400(no opportunity for OT) per month.

So they decided today shall be Report Sick day.(Not strike hor)

This reminds me of the army days...where many also report sick on the days of Siong exercises or activities.

联合早报记者魏瑜嶙报道，不满工资和住宿条件，约百多名SMRT中国籍巴士车长集体请病假，今早拒绝开工。

 

据一名受访车长透露，今天"请病假"的主要是来自克兰芝和兀兰车厂的车长。

 

后来一些宏茂桥车厂的司机也临时决定加入。目前无法确定全部有多少人。

 

他们聚集在兀兰员工宿舍，SMRT人员还在和他们协商。现场并没有出现混乱的情况。

 

车长告诉记者，他们的基本薪水本来就比新加坡和马来西亚籍司机低，加上自从从五天制改成六天制后，他们几乎没有什么加班的机会。以前一个月包括加班可赚2000多元，现在只有1400元左右。

Report sick should stay at home and not assemble in one area.
