To be fair,Car Dealers don't know about the Car's condition, when they take in 2nd hand cars.....if everycar they sold, need huge repair, how can they pay you.?

Our car gearbox spoilt after 4 months also not covered. Spend $3K. Car dealer say they dun give any warranty. We went to court. Judge obviously is on their side! Keep saying this is a used car. Then why extend the coverage of lemon law to used cars??? Ended up we only get compensated for $700. So just pray hard luck is on your side when buying used cars. Dun use RPM at West Coast!!! They say they dun send the cars for any check. Only cosmetic touch up. Find a more reliable and responsible car dealer. The law will not protect the buyers.

mine worst. Drove for 2 weeks only. Dealer got no spare car for me to drive. Reason no insurance.

when we go for test drive, the car no insurance??

That is why the more they should check. No check sure huge repair later. If no check only give them extra trouble and waste time too. So they happily take commission and no responsibility at all? Lemon law states they can go back to claim against ex owner. So check and save everyone's trouble.

To be honest, this is precisely the reason why I will never sell my avante to another buyer or to a car dealer. Still thinking hard if should trade in with authorised dealer.

Cos my car has multiple faults and I don't want it in my conscience should my car breaks down and causes an accident. So I will probably invest in a major repair first and drive a bit more before trading it in for a new car.

I hope all drivers hoping to sell off their old ride will at least do the major repairs first before selling instead of hiding the faults and just offloading it to an unsuspecting buyer.

When going for test drive, motor trade insurance covered as the salesman was in the vehicle conducting a test drive.

If just lending it to you for you to drive, no, the car has no coverage for the driver which is you.

You trade in to agent, still it will flow back to used car dealer no diff.

If all sellers like you, this world will be perfect.

You sure about your statement?

Hypothetically speaking, if you were the ex owner, act blur, top up gas for aircon till its cold, sell it to the dealer and aircon kaput, will you compensate the dealer? What if your gearbox fail after 3 days of selling it to a dealer, will you compensate?

Ask yourself this question first, this has been debated previously, of cos, i gotten alot of points deduction simply because Sellers/Buyers can do it to the dealers, but never the other way round. They can and only they can, no one else.

You trade in your car to AD,AD also sell to car dealers... :a-confused: So still end up in another car buyer...except your car is near 10 Yrs old, then understood it will be scrapped.

Some problems in cars, even experts also cannot detect...For example,VW DSG,it can drive well, but the next day,it can just fail...

Then what is the purpose of setting lemon law for the consumers?

To buyers of used cars, if possible just deduct as much as possible when paying to set aside for repairs. No point claiming lemon law since everything also can claim wear n tear. I managed to slash about near 10% off car price prev. Replaced some links, bushes n front shocks, steering rack w/in 6mths. Aircon comp replaced another year later.

check all gaskets see no black stain even engine gb parts is bone dry cos it hint of prev leakage. Oso check coolant n engine oil color to make both don't mix. Correct me if I'm wrong cos ride didn't exp any loss of fluids til now oredi 3+yrs

Felt some thing fishy as they didn't check for gear box and engine, requested to check for gear box and engine again on the next day as car is parked there , found out gearbox and engine issue . Told the car dealer there was issues was force to pay extra 200 for repair . Then sent back to performance for a check last Friday. Was told the car was cleared no issue . Took over they car this Monday in the afternoon full paid 93k in cash and took over Vechinice. At night found out car could reverse , texted car dear was told it was wear and tear can't cover . Took over to performance to check found out was gear box and engine issue repair cost was 6.5 k . When asked Peformance why they didn't found out gear box issue when I sent in Friday . They remain quite. Now I am stuck with the 6.5 k repair fee. Called the car dealer told me to sent down to his workshop he gave me the number , but called 5 time couldn't reach the guy called car dealer he say not his responsibility to contact his workshop . Please advice . Can't talk with the car dear any more .

Its all part of car ownership.

Expect to pay more for wear and tear items

but that's the price you pay for a conti.

But when your frens all see you drive a

conti and look up to you cos you have arrived

its really a very small price to pay.  [thumbsup]

Provided you arrived and didn't break down

some where.

Have a read at the following:

https://singaporelegaladvice.com/law-articles/what-is-the-lemon-law/

https://www.gov.sg/factually/content/what-is-the-lemon-law

the key phrases to me is:

"If a defect surfaces within 6 months of purchase, it is assumed that the defect existed at the time of sale, unless the retailer can prove otherwise"

If dealer commit in some form of black and white or in some form of evidence that this car won't break down, won't have break problem, gear box won't spoil, tyre just change won't spoil, etc etc...I think lemon law can apply. Case will be able to help, unless u have your own lawyer.

Lemon laws cover a product which cannot function after purchase is made. The alternator recharges the car battery so that the car can function properly. E.g. Starting of engine, etc. Hence, it should be covered under lemon law as it affects the car usability.
